I'd serve it with garlic bread and a big salad - or have it for a sneaky lunch when the kids aren't about!

baked beans are a good idea, was thinking maybe chips but only got a few potatoes left until the end of the week so not enough to make chips, anything with rice would be good

The pizza base itself is carb based, so you don't need to worry too much about additional carbs with the meal. Italians often only have a slice of pizza (unlike the british, who have caught on to the american habit of having a WHOLE pizza each!) for lunch. If you have it with plenty of salad, and maybe some garlic bread as rachbc suggested if the portions are really small and you need more carbs, then it should make a nice light but satisfying meal :)

Perhaps if you have children and sliced bread you could get them to make their own pizza faces from the sliced bread. Spread over tomato puree, top with cheese and then get them to make faces with veg.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Hi honeybun,

Now that you've had some ideas I've added your thread to main one on using up leftovers as your question may help others.

    I have the following:-

    • Most of a jar of tomato sauce (for bolognaisse)
    • Packet of sliced peperoni
    • Half an onion
(Can you tell what I made yesterday lol)

So, what can I make for tea? I have normal basics in although I seem to have run out of eggs as we had a naughty fry up for breakfast.

    Any ideas?
