Fair enough - it was the end of your post that came across a bit.....off-ish.

If you hover over the smiley you've used you'll see it calls itself "roll eyes (sarcastic)" - so naturally I thought......! Glad I was wrong though! :D

    Here - have a  !!!
Sorry didn't mean it that way... meant the smiley as a: smiling hmmmmmm..

Thanks for the  always in for that. :D

Have you tried parsnips boiled and mashed with cream, s&p? It's nice with gravy.

I quite liked parsnips mashed through mashed tatties. Then serve with sausage and gravy. :D
But we are a bit funny I realise that. We are Dutch and here in Holland we eat quite a lot of what we call Stamppot. It's basically mashed potatoes with pretty much any veg you can think of mashed in.

Hello everyone. I hope you can help

I've a 2.5k bag of Scottish potatoes in the cupboard. They're starting to sprout and my odd DH will throw them out if he sees them. I'd like to do a couple of things, for freezing if possible. Anyone any ideas?

I also had some sproutey potatoes left, I made a potato salad and added some mexican spice mix to make it tastier. V good for lunchbox.

I never knew that had a name!! Excellent - at least we shall know what we're eating from now on! :D

Try some carrots in with your parsnip & tattie mash Becca - it's lovely!

  • Had 3 apples that were about to be thrown in the compost bin - made an apple sponge in the microwave with them - topped with custard - lovely and got a little bit left for tomorrow too!! So pleased with myself for not being wasteful anymore.

Well in for the Grocery Challenge this month and we had a dinner party on Sat (big spend) so the fridge is full of leftovers - all of which will be eaten!!!! Today the kids ate up salad, slices of cold pork napoleon (think beef wellington), grapes and bread and butter in lunches (all l/o). Dinner was pasta in a tomato sauce with l/o parma ham.

Tomorrow's lunches are HM curried parsnip soup with 2 very hairy parsnips from the bottom of the fridge, crackers (from Sat), apple juice left from the non drinkers on Sat and cornflake tart made with l/o puff pastry.

I am determined that absolutely everything will be eaten - although butter and Brie are defeating me - I normally give them to the neighbours as 3 of us are dairy free - but I might freeze them to use in cooking for the next dinner party.

    Good morning all!

I'm overloaded with Kiwi's at the moment (the fruit kind! lol) as they were on special offer and I've not eaten them as quickly as anticipated. Any idea's on how I can use them? Trying to cut back on puddings etc at the moment but I really don't want these to go to waste. :A

  • I had same prob last week as kids said they would eat them then didn't. I ended up eating them. But thought about eating some sliced on top of museli, cereal or yogurt or with ice cream. I am sure there must be some dessert, think flan or merangue you could put the on top. Personally I would just look for opportunities to put them with rather than make something people may not eat. Last I buy Kiwi's on offer.:rotfl:

The only thing I can think of is a sorbet which you could freeze till you wanted it.

How about whizing them up in the blender with some yoghurt and a little honey for a smoothie?
