im with sheryldoc. i dont have a problem with people buying one or two to sell on like everyone said its currys mistake and you paid for it so do what you want. my problem is when people buy 5,6 or even 10 just to sell on. there was a post yesterday that said the only reason they were alerted to it is because some idiot ordered 6 at once. i genuinly wanted one and people like that spoiled it for everyone. have to say im against wrecking other peoples auctions though id go mad if it happened to me thats really wrong and very childish

well done to all those that got one though
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed

I agree with JP 100%, Some people just take it too far and spoil it for others. I genuinely wanted 2, one for me and one for my mum whos wanted one for a while now but cant afford one atm.
  • Didn't get one :( dad went to the store and was told they only come with the tv package, no phone calls beforehand and it took him 2 hours to get there. At least the staff weren't rude, but will send a letter to HO to complain though.

Well done to those who got one, unlucky for the rest of us.

I thought this one was priceless:

Phoned the Currys store where I reserved one yesterday and spoke to a nice girly who checked and told me with no hesitation 'yes, we have those stands in stock and one has been reserved for you' so I said, fine I'll pop in and collect later. About 20mins later I get the phone call (whilst I'm in the car) from another nice guy named Steve who informs me that it was a pricing error on the website and they cannot sell me a stand for a penny. He goes on to explain that the 'penny' price is only if you buy with a TV and the normal curry's price for the stand is £35.00. I suggested to him that he could adjust the till to sell at a penny very easily and also explained that I worked for another electrical retailer (true) so knew this to be the case but he said it was an 'online' offer and not in-store.

I then suggested that the policy on the reservation form says that you pay the 'online' price, regardless of what the in-store price is but he denied this and said all I could do is take it up with the online division. He did also mention that a lot of people have tried this on as they are trying to make a profit on E-bay! (No, really? LOL!) Now this is when it got interesting: After explaining to Steve that I wanted a stand for a colleague who had purchased a Samsung TV at Xmas (true story) he changed his mind. He said if I (and my friend) returned to the store with a receipt for the TV he would reverse the sale; resell the TV and also sell him a stand for a penny! Hmmm.....

I thanked Steve and said I would ask my friend what he wanted to do. Anyway, here's where it gets weird. About three hours later whilst finishing my Sunday lunch - A CALL FROM CURRYS. This time it's someone different who informs me that they are sorry but the Samsung stand I have reserved is out of stock. Time for some fun, I thought. A very embarrassed staff member was stumped for words as I explained that I'd already had a call earlier to tell me I couldn't have a stand. Oh? he said. Yes, I said, but you did have it in stock as it had been checked and was reserved for me. After mumbling something incoherrant he said: 'I was just told to phone and tell everyone they were out of stock - so as far as I know, we are.' I then enjoyed telling him he'd better look to see if the one reserved for me is still there as he may want to put it back on stock! LOL!

I so wanted to call them liars but of course there is no real proof but lets face it - they are lying through their teeth to get out of this one. I'm not bothered really. I just see it as a bit of fun and if you win - wahey! If you don't you move on to the next one. I can't see the point in getting all worked up about it like some others. It's just a pity when places like this boob they don't just own up and say, fair cop - it was a mistake. I would happily accept that as I make mistakes myself. Everybody does. It's when they try and worm out that gets people hot under the collar. I think they then have to expect some flak eh?

Best wishes to anyone who WAS successful in getting a stand. You've had some New Year luck already!

I reserved one from kettering, the two hardmen from the "management team" treated me more like two bouncers dealing with a kid trying to get into a night-club with the wrong shoes on rather than a paying customer. they wouldn't even budge when i produced a receipt for a 32" LCD samsung telly i bought from currys last thursay saying it was the wrong model samsung. Couldn't get too lary as i had my two kids with me. Better luck next time I suppose!

i just went and picked 1 up from here, the guy on the till could not believe the price he even offered to pay for it with a penny he found on the floor. but i refused just in case i had problems with them wanting to give me a refund. Anyhow i walked out with 1 10 mins later.

He said it was the last 1 so phone up and check before u go to the store to collect to make sure there in stock
