Oooh Dr Who on TV so I am grabbing a few minutes peace in a cool room a dish of something yummy ( we dont eat puddings very often and never straight after a big meal!) and a glass of cold alcohol
Christmas so far been good - dont think we have pushed the boat out too far. Will be eating out of freezer and stores until the end of January though!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Exploring saving with a CU...............will be back later with more thoughts on it and the usual goals/plans for 2014. In the mean time getting house sorted post Christmas - DD2 has a couple of friends round today - think they need a break from revision ( what happened to exams happening once a year/!)Need to take back a couple of unwanted gifts too, do a few calculations and get the crayons out and then start on formulating those plans....................would really like to use a spread sheet but although I can use them I have no idea how to create one!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Christmas came and went as did New Year with nothing outstanding to report .....all very civilised. Monday will see me back at work.....cant say with renewed vigour as January looks on paper to be a bit of a killer but its not as bad as this time last year................working with the new person in charge is a whole different ball game to working for the ex idiot in charge - and the difference is with and not for. Being listened to valued and respected will always bring the best out in anyone! Not here to talk about work but I do believe if that part of my life is more positive then other things will fall into place
Reflecting on the year passed from a money/debt point of view it hasnt been too bad - debt not as low as I would have wanted due to some horrid car bills- but overall not bad. Change in spending habits and taking part in a couple of MSE challenges has helped. I discovered the art of 'money in envelopes' - fell off the wagon a bit towards the end of the year but I like the principle. I will also be taking on some 'saving challenges this year too - more than putting change in jars which I will also continue:)
So I sat down yesterday and in the old fashioned way wrote down some goals - not resolutions - here they are in no particular order. I hope their cumulative effect will impact on my debt busting quest:
1. Smile a little more and judge a little less
2. Keep the change pots going - 5p, 20p, coppers, £2, picture 50p and a new for me £1 with dragons on!
3. Join a CU to help with MSE weekly saving challenge
4. Continue with my favourite MSE challenge - PAD
5. Listen for longer before speaking
6. Crack the paperwork/filing/home office organising thing
7. Get back to doing 150x25m lengths of pool each week
8. Lose weight. See above. No I will not be joining any fad pay as you weigh diet group.
9.Walk more. Drink more water - especially at work!
10. We have a significant wedding anniversary this summer - dont ask me the date cos I can never remember - DDs have challenged me to get back in the dress:rotfl: Well its a frock really - in the good old fashioned Laura Ashley sense. Doubt if I will get back in it but I am going to give it a try - so I guess 7,8 and 9 will all help!
11.Create more time - OK defy the law of physics. The aim is to use my time more efficiently! I am going to do this by......
12. Meal plans and lists
13. More ironing - I know defies logic but it will save on the scrabble in the morning with the board and stupid iron
14. Organise housework a little more
and
15. Watch less TV and read more - I may even get a book finished for my monthly book group.
16. Spend time in the garden and generally out and about more and appreciate this beautiful landscape we live in.....its why we wanted to live here in the first place and I think in the last few years we have just taken it for granted.
17. List list and list on Eb*y - keep at least 10 things on there ( pinched that idea) at all times. I think that is doable rather than a listing frenzy on a FLW.Should also crack the clutter problem which continues to dominate my life.As will keeping local Oxf*m shop stocked to gain my Nect*r points
18. Be a good friend- I have a couple of very good close friends and I think both of them are about to have a challenging year ahead of them..........
19.Reduce debt by at least 20% this year - I want to see more coloured squares
20. Get new passport organised - not straight forward and I have put it off for too long
21. Be more disciplined with a spending diary- Did I say write lists?
22. Use cash more and get those envelopes going again
23. Join some fun challenges on MSE and dont get sucked into too many 'heavy' diaries reading late into the night
24. Continue with surveys - did OK this year but could do better! Determined to get my £50 from You G*v - at 2900 points now:)
25. Remember to devote some time to debt busting. Treat it as a hobby - not a chore or an obsession.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Popping out with a friend soon to a favourite 'local food centre' for yummy cake an coffee ( as if we need any more!) It will be my first spend of 2014 and will go into the diary:rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Whooo Hoo - first sale for 2014 on Eb*Y:j Trying a bit of a new tactic whilst there is a free listing period - fairly low value/light weight items with free p&p - the p&p added to the starting price. Worth a punt I thought.........same item listed before Christmas at 99p with p&p extra didnt sell. Now sold at starting price at £5.................................... need to list some more items and keep it topped up to 10 at all times;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
