Had a extreme MSE moment today - involves food beyond sell by date so this is not a post for those who are a slave to the supermarkets ploy to get you to buy more..................I rely on smell look taste and ultimately flippin common sense:D Anyway today I made chicken soup - first made a stock base using a carcass which I had frozen from last weeks roast chicken, some flabby leek and sad looking carrots and celery. Strained all that and froze half the stock. To the rest I added some meat from said chicken which I had frozen separately some less flabby leeks and a bit better looking and less elderly carrots celery and garlic simmered for a while then threw in a hand full of red lentils that were lurking in the bottom of a storage jar and finally because didnt want a thick creamy soup but still needed something a bit more substantial I threw in some tiny weeny alphabet pasta - was very yummy with OH HM bread - DD2 loved it especially the tiny cute pasta shapes !( kinda doubled for vermicelli which is what I really wanted) The 'not for the faint hearted' part is that the pasta has been in the cupboard for a l o n g time - no, a v e r y l o n g time bought it when I was weaning DD1 - she graduated last year :eek::rotfl::eek::rotfl::eek::rotfl:

I do clear out my cupboards thoroughly 2/3 times a year but never got round to getting rid of this - also have some tiny duck pasta shapes bought for DD2 so will be using those next time:rotfl::rotfl:

BTW I give all my unwanted packets and tins when I have a clear out away on Fr@@gle............although last time there wasnt that much as I am getting much better at the meal planning ;)

Busy week in work next week but at least the idiot in charge will be out for a couple of days so we will get some work done!

The Idiot in Charge is flexing their muscles again - doing their darnedest to discredit me.............. and if its not that its being so patronising I am fully expecting a pat on the head and a star chart in the staff room - roll on week on Friday :)

Well a week of is ahead of me - slipped off the wagon a bit - still doing my PADs which are making a lovely dent in things but lost my MSE diary of spends and mislaid a couple of receipt plus haven't really got to grips with the weekly purse and secret sock idea - but will try again - have managed to squirrel away loose change into various tins/jars/miscellaneous containers so may well give them a shake up next week and pay a few bills over the counter in the bank where they hate taking loose change:rotfl:

On the work front think I drew a line under an issue today and feel stronger/better for it

Much plans of de clutter and sort out house and garden this week - snow permitting:) as well as endure a 4 hour speed awareness course - I would have happily taken the points but couldn't find my licence to send in so it was cheaper to pay for the course and hopefully licence will turn up in clear out!

Also have plans to catch up with a couple of good friends and my turn to host the book group so lemon drizzle cake in the making too!

Approved Grub order done - best bargain was catering quantities of jelly crystals and food colouring - very useful for work ;)
