Meant to say..woodpecker! Very impressed!! We currently have chooks and not much else. Cats scare them away :(

Hmm......... we have 2 cats both hunters but they seem to specialise in small mammals. Birds dont seem worried about the cats and cats leave them alone by and large.

Done a bit of a forensic check on the finances now. I think when I started my OP's last year and colouring in squares at 1% a time I was also including the OP's on a few outstanding small CCs debts that I was paying off at same time - my overall big debt I have across 5 0% CCs and had based the 1% calculation on this. Together with some big car bills last year which I put on a CC and then paid off in full the following month has meant although my debt has reduced ie all small CCs paid off and Big debt reduced the Big Debt was not as small as I had hoped..............but it has not increased so all good and a further resolve to hit it hard this year :D

Cant believe its 12 months since OH and I went away for a long weekend and came back having decided to bring Big House Project forward by about 10 years:eek: Big House Project still under way but the major stuff is virtually complete - second worktop to be installed and a few twiddly bits to be completed in kitchen. Next will be some cosmetic stuff and redecoration and new flooring ..oh and bathroom:o and some stuff outside.........Ok maybe not as long the line as I thought:p Its all long term. No rush. We are not followers of home interior fashion - my LR curtains, which I made, have been up 25 years - they do get cleaned every year - and do the job they where made for so why change??

  • Morning Igamogam,
Just had a catch up read through, I think you have done really well considering everything that's been going on, so even though big debt has not reduced as much as you hoped, as you say it has not grown, and much else has been achieved:T
I have the same attitude re house improvements, they are long term and there is no rush. We have been in our house 23 years, and although I put up curtains in bedrooms (which I made) I never quite got round to the downstairs (no houses nearby so no passers by to affect privacy..... that I know of;) ). About £400 worth of curtain material has sat around for 18+ years waiting to adorn lounge windows :rotfl: I have had all the components - but never the time!

Oh you have reminded me.......I too have a large box of curtain material intended for making up into some new curtains about 10 years ago.............cost the same too:o:( Right I am going to drag it out and get it sold. I am really never going to use it. Totally impractical colour for us - white linen..... and hand embroidered too. I am on a mission now!

Have to say OH and I never have long conversations about money.......always been an area of tension so we only do it when absolutely necessary. So yesterday OH tells me he has let things slide a little last couple of months- lots of reasons: month long trip of a lifetime followed by illness and then headlong into getting house project finished before Christmas and just taking eye off the ball he has ended up paying interest on his CC debts "No biggie" I say. "It happens. I look at my CCs everyday and bank account everyday and pay something off even if only a couple of £'s. That way I am always on top of the need to move to another 0% deal or if anything doesn't look right on statement.......etc etc. His response? "For a minute there I thought you said you paid something off every day..........." He doesnt get it. So I have left it for the time being. His debt is his responsibility IMO.

Still need to get my arris into gear to start selling some excess things we really dont need or were longtime ago impulse buys ( dont do that any more!). Having to wait in for a delivery today so no excuses:D
