what is with this machine crap?
when i withdraw sums in the hundreds or so, I have never had 'machine counting' but a teller counting it out to me right there?
Ask for a copy of the slip. And continue to persue this enquiry. Sounds highly dodgey to me.0 -

These machines are being used more and more these days. God only knows why - presumably because the banks think they're faster or more accurate. But they have been known to be inaccurate. It happens with ATMs more often than you might think. If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Well I have never seen one and whan and if I do I will be putting up a stink.
Like I am with the new HSBC secure key thingamagidget0 -

However if the slip was processed as £1700 and the machine counted out £1700 unless the till was wrong by £500 someone is telling porkies.
And I bet I know who it is !!!0 -
On the 11 August 2001. I withdrew £1200 from lloyds tsb branch in Cathcart, Glasgow. I filled in a withdrawal form and handed this to the Customer Service Advisor (CSA). The CSA then handed me £1200.
So you should have got a card holder receipt to show £1200 was taken out if that is the case, along with £1200 in cash.
If £1700 was taken then I'd use their complaints procedure.
They should count it manually too so you can check, I'd never trust a machine to count it. I always have a fear of ATM's short changing me, never have done but you can never be sure and there is no one around to complain to in that situation.0 -

That's a good point about the printed till receipt - he would have had to use a debit/credit card wouldn't he?
As for ATMs, they can sometimes give you too much!If you will the end, you must will the means.0
