Are Tesco Clubcard Deals worth it?

  • Agreed.

What I am saying is that if I just collect the points on my normal shop, I'm happy. To chase points, do multiple shops etc, just doesn't stack up for me.
Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.

well i think they are excellent, i have booked a weeks break at Center parcs in Holland for whitsun week the holiday. this i had to pay for, but i used £57.50 worth of vouchers to get £230 off the ferry crossing, the ferry cost £254 (stena line) and in fact because i had to book over the phone not on line its supposed to be £10 more, but they deducted the £10 as I was not able to book on line which was not my fault.
my weeks holiday (half term week) for a family of 4 has cost a total of £476
    haw can that be bad?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Centerparcs is going to be in the february deals catalogue. Cresta stopped offering it, because it was sold off. But a few months ago, I got a mini brochure from them and they were doing holidays at a limited number of parcs, but Tesco's vouchers couldn't be used. Apparently French Centerparcs is in the frenchlife brochure, but yours is a really good way of doing it. We went to Eijerbois 2 years ago with tescos vouchers and it was fantastic. The activities were much cheaper than England, I think Scuba diving was about £7,most of the other activities cost 3 or 4 ponds. Have a great time

How do you buy vouchers off your Mum, all the deals I have got are provided in my name and not transferable.

My ex, his Mum and I merged cards, and I am now main account holder which means that any points they get on their card get added to our merged account and when vouchers get issued they all come to my house.
All it takes is a quick call to the helpline, as long as card holders are in the same room, so the csa on phone can speak to you all to confirm this, it can be done instantly.

I'm saving my points for a Haven holiday, I should have enough after the next mailing. The H & B vouchers topping me up nicely.

I find that I now shop with Tesco's for most of my shopping (using coupons too), and have a Tesco Credit card. Using money off coupons means I can purchase so of the things I get till spits for with out it hurting too much.

I also shop little and often as there is a Tesco's near me, this way I seem to get a few till spits. I have joined up with the clubs too. As someone once said 'Every little helps'

fair comment it doesnt stack up for you......but for our family who dont have to go out of their way to shop in tescos every few days its works fine

i shop every few days to take advantage of money off coupons plus with only a small fridge at mo.. because my old one give up... a can only store so much cold stuff hence i cant wait for my fridge freezer which i had with my tesco deals

I think 2007 will be an interesting year for Tesco Clubcard. With a number of companies pulling out of the scheme, some renegotiating the choice is becoming limited to holidays / days out, meals or services you could buy cheaper elsewhere (breakdown cover, car servicing, magazines).

Tesco also seem to be clamping down on the "grab a code that was not meant for you" so the 1000 point £50 shops have significantly reduced in the last quarter. Some of the claims in this thread would have made my eyes pop out if I was running the Clubcard scheme.

Personally we have used those codes to rack up points, only 1,000 a month on a single shop home delivery, but it has helped with a couple of nights at a hotel and a ferry crossing.

However for this year the food budget will me more tight so 'big shops for the sake of it' will be far less.

A friend said to me yesterday "Why drive to Tesco's to buy over washed old vegetables artificially maintained, when local, cheaper, better quality produce is half mile away at the local village greengrocer". She has a point. So we will buy the bulky items and value non-perishables from Tescos, but for the other stuff it is local shops and Lidl's for quality items.

"Have you ever tried asking your boss for a 30% pay rise? It's alot easier to shop smart and cut 30% off your food bill". Quote from Radio 4 February 2006 in an item discussing Aldi / Lidl / Netto and the flip mentality of the UK shopper versus the German shopper.
  • Last year we went to Centerparcs in Holland for about £400, again in August.

Could you tell me who you booked with please.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Happy with my deals.

In 2005 I took a week in Cyprus (with the kids).

This year I have 1 week in Tunisia (also with the kids)

Also I will be using my february points for Eurotunnel tickets for my 1 week blast to Poland on my bike (without kids) and still have enough to pay for pack of driving lessons for my oldest.
    Happy ......I should COCO
