The e-mail is as inept as the whole presentation.
Stay on DD (like me).
From 1/5/07, you'll get £1.50/month off your line rental and £1/month off your broadband rental.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
i am with you biggles. the email definetly says i will be better off. also, i didnt realise i got a discount for paying broadand by dd. my costs are 14.93 for the phone option 2 and 17.99 for the option 1 broadband. in fact looking at the prices i should only be paying 14.50 for the phone line. unless that advertised price includes the paperless billing benefit0

In fact, Primus is better - 90 minutes limit instead of 60.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I pay by direct debit but still found the £4.50 payment charge on my bill. When I telephoned BT the chap explained the charges to me. I informed him that they don't apply to customers who pay by direct debit. He agreed. S I patiently pointed out to him for a second time that I do pay by direct debit and he advised me that the charges don't apply then. To which I replied that I had been charged. OMG. Finally got through to him and charge will be refunded. Now where can I spend my 50p refund?0

I know that loads of people have posted regarding the 4.50 charge already for not use D/D. But to me this takes the p*ss, of course it makes BT life much easier if they muck up your bill and you are using d/d they already have your money meaning you are out of pocket and you then have the hassle of getting it back.
Would you then be able to charge them a fee for all the time involved getting the bill right! don't be silly of course not so, how comes they can charge you for time they spend processing your bill yet you would not be able to charge them. May be the charge is there for them to help cover the cost of all people leaving to use over providers.
I have no issue in paying by d/d for bills which don't change council tax, cable TV and broadband etc, but when it comes to bills which can be and are screwed up. I wish to check the amount I am paying before I pay it, some thing d/d does not give me.
BT are going to loose a lot more than 4.50 they have gained as I'm moving to cable they have offered me a home phone for only an extra £24 a year on my current TV & Broadband package. so it make sense, and before you all tell me yes I know they charge more than BT for none D/D but I'm already paying the rest by D/D and they offered me free evening and weekend calls in the uk.
So, long farewell BT Id like to say it's been nice knowing you but, I don't like to lie.0 -

No I was going to say they charge you more for the calls and you can't even switch to the likes of 18185.
But yes you are right they are losing more than they gain, they have lost £100 from me but I still have BT line rental and still pay the same way I did using online banking but now I get a £4.50 reduction for signing up to direct debit that they have never had to use as I pay it before it's due just as I always used to.
BT Direct Debit, How To Beat It
Make sure you are not throwing the baby out with the bath water.
You need to ask yourself why are Virgin losing so many phone customers?
I nearly forgot, they charge you more for not using direct debit, think it's £7.50.0 -
locka.
Why bother to dig up a very old thread and tell us you dont want to pay BT by d/d but your happy to pay Virgin Media by d/d .0
