She'll get a shedload of extra benefits for the new addition. When on benefits, one doesn't have to consider whether or not one can afford children - the tax payers pick up the tab.

This isn't a fault of the OPs, but a BIG fault in the benefits system, and one which makes many hard working, tax paying families who cannot afford another child which they would like understandably very angry.

Totally agree. I just said something very similar on another thread:

Unfortunately the benefits system doesn't discourage these people from having kids that they can't afford. Perhaps if they weren't so sure that the state would see them right, they'd think twice before having kids at all.

Most hardworking professional couples I know can only afford 2 children, maybe 3 at a push, due to time off work and childcare etc. So although they may have loved more kids, they stick at what they can afford.

Why then, does someone on benefits or someone on a low income living in social housing think that they should carry on and have as many as they like...? Presumably because, unlike the parents working full time with a modest income, their income from benefits etc continues to increase dramatically with each new kid they thoughtlessly produce?

What baffles me, is how you read some heartbreaking things on here, such as a working single mum who posted the other day who was struggling to feed her son and couldn't afford to eat herself, and on the flip side you read some outrageous posts from people whining that their generous benefits aren't sufficient?

What kind of ridiculous system have we got where inequalities like that exist?

She'll be getting £74 a wek in ctc and cb. Why should she get any more? It make's me laugh, how people can cope with a new born baby, but can't work. A baby is bloomin hard work. Also she was on about her wonderful Oh in another post, so how come she's pregnant, on Is and not able to fund a buss pass.

And is that why you decided to do some b1tching on discussion time about single parents with your fabricated assumptions, i am saddend you have dropped so low.

I am leaving this thread now, since a simple request for advice has resulted in the OP being completely slated for reasons that have nothing to do with what she asked. Continuing to read it is just going to wind me up.

It is relevant though. If you state you cant afford a bus pass and what extra help may you qualify for on top of benefits then its only sensible to ask how the extra child will be budgeted for if the OP cant afford the existing childrens outgoings.

Stating she claims IS but then in another post has an OH and the funds to buy plenty of baby items yet pleading poverty is bound to raise questions. Questions that the OP never actually answered ...........

It's just annoyed me, that she can't afford a bus pass for her son. Yet she can afford another baby. I am disabled and was forced back to work, through loosing benefits. We barely live on anything now, but my kids won't go without.
Why can't the babies dad help her with the £33.
Eerybody I know is loosing DLA and having to work. Pity i'm past childbearing age eh.

Yeah i'm disabled too lucky you can go back to work, the system deemed you fit to do some form of work. i can't but i really really wish i could.

I hate staying home, i have no options at this present time, but i am so desperate to go back to work so that the likes of you will stop assuming i am a sponger and scum of the earth.

So don't say you were forced, be grateful that you have had an opportunity to get employment, gets you out of the house, gives you a sense of worth, and gives you back your self esteem.

using "I'm disabled and....." is a copout. Thats almost as bad as "I'm a sinlge parent and...." single parents do get lots of help, and i said in other post you have chosen to tar us all with the same brush, you know nothing about me, what makes you and expert to judge me?

You know as well as i do those that are disabled, some are fortunate to be able to have the chance to get back into work, and until my time comes i am stuck at home, you should be grateful that you have had a chance to do that, oh did you want to stay at home instead, why? you've proven you can work, you've gone on about it enough.

Truth may hurt, but really you dont know about twinkle, you don't know what's going on apart from what they choose to stay on here..

People like you make me so mad, i wish my brain worked, i wished my body would work, i wish i could go out and be independant again, i wish to work for a living rather than rely on the benefits system.

Mupette, no one objects to contributing to genuine cases such as yours.

I suggest you read Twinkles previous posts. She says herself that she has always been useless with money. She was invited over to the debt board, but she didn't go.
She drank everyday until pregnant, as it now makes her feel sick, though she did try with some lager!
She is also already planning her fourth child at the tax payers expense, as a little playmate to the one she is pregnant with at present.

So I have not a pinch of sympathy that she cannot raise £33.00 for her son to travel to school; and I think it a darn cheek to expect anyone else to fund it. Maybe she could approach the charity who also fund her.

well she can't get a job right now she is about to drop, so i am sure that's why she is on IS (workers version of matleave)

I've read some of her preivious posts seems they are mostly about having the baby..

Yes i know she talks of having a OH, but we dont know their living arrangements..

But before someone starts digging through my posts.

I call myself a single mum, DS is 16
I am getting married next year, but not living with OH, we choose not to live together until we are married.

The benefits i get now, all but DLA will stop (rightly so) it will be down to the husband to be to support me. Although i am not in a position to work, i am looking and asking, (i feel bad that OH will have to pay everything - thats just me)

To help me get better (not that i will in the sense MS has no cure) i want to work, i want to communicate with others like a normal person, i don't want to be stuck at home, i'm disabled yes, but there are millions worse than me.

I never said I was fit too work, I have mental illness, osteoarthiritis, Emphysema, which they first said i hadn't got , but now decided i have. And also just been diagnosed with a pituatiry tumour. So no i am not fit for work. but Atos seem to think that if you can breathe and have two arms and legs that you can work. I do the job, but come home and sleep, for the rest of the day.
Perhaps when you have your medical and they deem you fit for work. Like they have so many others, you might think again.
