I'd be very interested to know where i could by the Vista Ultimate upgrade for £120 ??

Mind you, I'm off to Dubai next week .... Does anyone know if I'll be able to pick Vista up cheaper over there, and whether or not it will be an interantional version that supports a UK keyboard ??

business PCs, but if Microsoft is saying it's fine, then who are we to argue? The upgrade version is much cheaper than the full version (£120 in the case of the Ultimate edition).

    Cheers,

Thanks, but the OEM version isn't an ideal choice, as no one knows what Microsofts future approch to upgrades (sorry motherboard faults) will be and with the upgrade and Full retail you get both 32bit and 64bit versions in the box so you have a little bit of future proofing as well.

  • Ive always bought OEM, no probs. I reinstalled my XP OEM many times as I am a bit of a modder, including on totally rebuilt PCs at times.

With XP you were able to reactivate automatically after a set period, but were always able to reactivate in smaller time frame via a phone call to MS. Took a few mins.

Ive never heard of anyone getting totally locked out (who could show they had bought it legit!). Vista may be different, personally I wouldnt buy until the first service pack is up to date and company's release drivers. By then we'll have a better understanding of the activation policy, but again, I doubt anyone will get locked out.

I wouldnt worry about the 64-bit version.
