Q. Is this a "Cheap" way of obtaining Microsoft Vista.
A. No ... This product must be pre-install by the System Builder onto the fully assembled PC before the unit ships to the end user. The end user must use the reciept of his fully assembled pre installed PC to claim the upgrade and only original forms supplied by an authorised system builder will be accepted.Q. When can I take advantage of this offer?
A. Offer is available between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007
So I will need a reciept from a certified system builder to provide a reciept? Do they ask for this??
Would I need to install Vista before March 15th? Or can I send of for the disc and keep it untill I can afford to ugrade for dx10? (allthough I realise I dont need to wait)If you find my post helpful please do not click thanks, instead please send the thanks to my paypal account.:beer:0 -

I just bought a new graphics card that is Vista Aero ready (according to NVidia) and it cost me about £25 from ebuyer (where there were also several positive reviewers directly stating that they have run Beta versions of Aero using it).

OK then:

This is an AGP board, obviously you may need an PCI-E equivalent depending on what your motherboard has, also this is a NVidia board - check the links for the ATI equivalent. The poster above is correct that if you're a gamer then a DX10 card is going to become a very worthwhile investment, but if you don't play games then it's really not worth getting much more than the basic requirements. This will do everything needed for Vista Aero. Plus for £25 it's not going to be the end of the world if you need to upgrade again in a couple of years.
* Also, i know it's off topic but whilst ebuyer ARE dirt cheap I've heard from several sources that their customer service and returns policy can be very dodgy so proceed with caution. The previously mentioned Overclockers are very good in my experience - only slightly more expensive and far better customer service rep.0 -

If you look at the vista website you will see that you have to select a PC manufacturer or a system builder (US only according to website). If you cant select your manufacturer from the list and supply a valid COA that the manufacturer can verify then you wont get the upgrade..0 -
I'm completely flummoxed! So would buying it with a mouse work or not? Oh and do we have to claim the upgrade before March or install before March to claim?0

OK ..
Buying the OEM version of Vista with a mouse is illegal under Microsofts own OEM license agreement. Although some store do sell it like this all it means is that if you buy it with a mouse but install it on a full system the license will be tied to the system you installed it on and not transferrable to another PC (or maybe once depending how you interperate the VISTA EULA)
Buying XP with the upgrade to vista voucher is another matter... Unless you can give the name of the Approved manufacturer that you bought the PC from as well as the Model and serial number ( you might bget away with not giving the serial number) as well as the XP COA and date of purchase for microsoft to verify with the approved manufacturer you selected then you wont get the VISTA upgrade.. Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/expressupgrade.mspx
And it will tell you the manufacturers that are involved in the express upgrade.0 -
It doesn't look so good that way!0

@ sco0ter it says at the bottom though thats for US partners only. Also were ebuyer not also selling the oem xp home and pro with vista coupons? According to vista website not available on home edition of xp...0

I just upgraded via the Lenovo website, it cost me £12 just for delivery to upgrade. I have just scanned and e-mailed my receipt for the desktop PC. I will be getting the Vista Business edition."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"
