Options
I am looking for people who have cancelled Sky TV and are being charged £2.50 for not having Sky. You will normally still have some service of them ie phone calls, broadband or line rental. please contact me if you are.

  • Please do the maths on this your self 100,000 people paying £2.50 is £250,000 per month multiply by 12 months is £3million, a lottery win for sky!

Its only recently that Sky offered broadband without a Sky TV subscription, so cancelling Sky would have automatically cancelled your broadband and telephone as well.
Another way of looking at it is that Sky offer discounts for taking multiple services from them.
Sky charge £5/month extra for broadband if you don't take line rental and calls from them.

I guess the best option would be to look for an alternative ISP.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • No we want to find out how many more this is happening too. Changing is easy but it does not stop Sky from removing funds from our account for a charge I consider unfair and unjust. There are more apt ways of dealing with the matter which the Police a re prepared to do if more people come forward. Please pass it on lets find out how many are being charged this amount for not having a service.

    It's in the T&C's...
You are not being charged extra-by cancelling your TV sub you simply no longer qualify for the discount!

I agree you no longer qualify for the discount, if you take the tv subrctiption they will give you it at the reduced price. It is broken up so its easy to understand. Good luck taking sky on. My phone bill charges me £2.50 for not having a direct debit set up - this is a similar thing.

You been sniffing something? You have more chance of the police pulling you for speeding that them dealing with a commercial ( none criminal )~ practise
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I recently cancelled SKY TV because they wouldn't offer me a deal so I could keep getting a discount (Had a year on a friends & family discount, then 6 months half price). I then got a letter to say there would be a supplement of £2.50 extra for not taking SKY TV. You will THEN receive another letter the following month to say the supplement has increased AGAIN, think it's £7+.
I got this letter yesterday, for bog standard line rental and unlimited broadband it would come to £29!!!!!!!

I rang up last night and told them to cancel the account completely, because they wouldn't offer me a deal on TV again and now they wanted close to £30 for something I could get with another provider for £20!

She agreed with me and offered me half priced line rental for 6 months.
I then asked what offers were on my account if any, she said I could get 25% off everything so I took it, so now I'm getting all the TV channels again, broadband and phone for £50, plus you're not tied into another contract.

Give them a call, you can get your line rental reduced or get a discount on everything

Are you still paying £10 for the broadband after the £5 discount with Skytalk? If so you should renew the broadband contract to save £2.50 per month.
The standard line rental with broadband without tv is £22.25 or with unlimited calls its £27.25. Any higher then you either have the old broadband price or additional call features on the phoneline.
  • I have been with Sky for only 2 months now (new customer), line rental and broadband only package (no TV).

I just checked the bill online as they moved the Direct Debit forward by 2 weeks without notifying me and then found the "no TV supplementary charge of £2.50 a month"!

This was NEVER quoted to me in my price breakdown of the broadband package and there is no mention of it in the T&C on the Sky broadband page sign up.

Again I stress that I never signed up for the TV package.

I wrote to Sky support earlier today, I am waiting for their response.

All the information is there, but is perhaps not easy to follow- especially in the basket where the displayed information sometimes gets confused by initial offers/upfront payments etc.

The current page states that Broadband Unlimited is £7.50 a month "When you take a Sky TV package (from £20 a month) with Sky Talk & Line Rental (£12.25 a month)". If you don't take a Sky TV Package, then the basket calculates the "Ongoing Monthly cost" £2.50 higher.

There's also a reference in the basket- "Save £2.50 per month on your broadband when you add a Sky TV package".

Sky have indicated their increased interest in selling standalone home communication packages, and could do with sorting their website out, in my view, to make it more understandable for those customers.
