It wouldn't be easy finding somewhere, but I imagine they would.

Hopefully it won't come to that, you sound like you have a good plan of action and if anyone can get it sorted you will :) Your parents are very lucky to have you!

I like to think so but keep getting reminded that they don't think so :) christ I've enough problems of my own to deal with but I feel more positive about moving into a room in town as there will be benefits to it for example not dealing with their !!!!.

I honestly feel like cutting them out of my life if this isn't sorted, they have been so relaxed and ignorant about it. I think they were paying £36 a month as the letter says £1919 is 52 months @ £36 so to be £845 in arrears of the arrears makes it a year they haven't bothered paying or trying to negotiate.

!!!! Just seen my mother half open a letter and chuck it in the drawer without reading it!!! They wonder why they have problems.

    Update

Called HA they need payment of £845 and this weeks rent to stop the bailiffs, they have already applied to the bailiffs to get a date for repossession which I think takes about 4 weeks.

The woman on the phone said to try and get payment of £845 plus £122 to them this week so I got my mum to call the solicitors for an interim payment of the full £2800 to cover all the arrears if not hoping for £845 to bring it up to date which we should hear back sometime today if not I will call the solicitor again who now knows how serious it is.

My sister has offered £150 to cover this weeks rent; the reason it is so high is because HB was stopped at the end of June as they were waiting for some information so I am sending my mum to the council with DLA and ESA info to get this reinstated asap. HB counts for £400 of the £845 but my mum insists she was paying the top up so the other £445 came from nowhere

They now know if they can't find the £845 then it is game over.

Fingers crossed the solicitor can come through and help......

My JSA goes on food, transport to look for work, clothing, essentials....the last time I went out for a drink to enjoy myself....April 28th

Why do you need to buy clothes? You are a grown adult so you're not going to outgrow them and they last for years. I have pairs of Asda jeans that are going on for over 5 years old.

Good for you, do you have a job? because I imagine wearing rags prevents you looking presentable enough to get a job. If you speak to CCCS etc they actually count clothing etc as essentials, not that I spend much on clothing anyway but I do need new knickers and socks at times.

Without adding to your worries, I think after reading that you need to check if there are any more 'surprises' waiting for you around the corner. It would be a pity if you get this particular problem sorted out only to be confronted with other 'problems' in the coming months.

Methinks a look in that drawer is necessary.

There is paperwork stuffed everywhere it would take me all day but I shall remain vigilant esp with priority debts such as council tax etc

I have already told her that when this is sorted I am using CCCS to get the other debts sorted because if they are sorted like she claims why are they calling constantly, I've not heard from mine other than to accept payment of £1 a month and most have given nearly a year before they will contact me.

On a good note the solicitor has spoken to HA and is trying to sort some kind of payment out.

I don't think there is any more I can do today until my mum has finished sorting HB out and the solicitor calls to update, so a bit of ME time now I think a shower and flick through job websites to see if there is anything new from the weekend.

If you were me, I would be setting up the meeting with or without them and trying my level best to secure the property.

If the OP is not the tenant then the HA will not discuss this without the tenants being present - or having given permission.

I have decided to look for a room whatever the outcome, still waiting on solicitor to sort out payment but can't be doing with living with people who have the brain cell of a fly and who are ignorant enough to keep saying 'It's not my fault' and moaning about it instead of sorting it out and while I've been sorted it out I've got someone constantly on my back moaning.

Can't help those who won't help themselves.

Had a look at those sites for rooms and only spare room is any good, anyone have anymore or a section on this site where it can be done? is gumtree any good? x

When I lived in a HA property anyone could pay the rent direct using the payment card. The HB was always sent direct to the HA.

It will be difficult to find a private LL that may let to them - it might be possible on a " who you know" or friends know or friends of friends. The issue is a lot won't take DSS, and those that do, if they are aware of any arrears, are likely to say no.

However, I am a big believer that things work out in the end, so I am sure something somewhere will be found.

Just out of curiosity though, if anyone knows, if the council won't take them and they can't get privately rented, would they seriously be expected to live on the street being disabled? Is there nothing available for this type of issue given their disabilities?
