Urgent housing help needed!

I've had a search for bedsits and studio flats they are certainly rare even more so for those on benefits, so where is the best place to look? I think my LHA is 1 bedroom for £80?
I wonder what happens to all those they have no obligation to house, surely being homeless is the same no matter your situation. Maybe I should get pregnant.
I'm guessing that the pregnancy bit was not a serious suggestion, but perhaps you should start a thread with the 'not entitled to social housing' question - the answers might surprise you. In my case, I left care at 16, slept in homeless shelters for six months while doing every crappy job I could find to save money for a rent deposit. I rented rooms in a series of shared houses - often complete dives inhabited by strange, scarey people - for a few years until I was 19 and had saved enough (by working like a dog and spending very little on myself) for a bedsit of my own. As my pay increased, so my accommodation got better. Not getting a council flat, is not the end of the world.0 -
What your parents, with your help, are going to have to concentrate on is preventing the eviction.
If they havent kept to the agreement of a suspended possession order, then they are going to have to work extra hard to prove to a judge they can maintain payments and pay off the arrears.
I feel a meeting with the HA may be fruitless,as usually they would only only cancel an application for the warrant if the full arrears have been paid-but still give it a go.
Otherwise they will have to defend themselves in the hearing, explaining why they havent kept the agreement, what they can afford to pay. Certainly they will have to play on the benefits side of the situation-however if they have spent the HB I have little sympathy as its a common problem I see all the time. I would suggest they request direct HB payment to the HA straight away to at least show goodwill, and they must make some sort of payment early next week.
At any hearing the judge makes the final decision based on evidence and the likelihood of defendants making the effort. I am not sure how successful you will be.
Also, although mentioned light heartly, you would be unable to take over the tenancy.0 -

I just don't know what to do, it is easy enough to say look for a shared room but even most of those say no DSS!0 -

My help isn't wanted, I have offered and have been told 'We will sort it' 'I know what I am doing'
I am angry because I was paying the shortfall regular and on time but seems like it has been spent elsewhere unless this goes back further than since I moved back to the area. Apparently DLA has paid for the holiday, she recently got a back payment of about £600 from it so why didn't they use that to pay for the arrears of the payment arrangement.
If they manage to stop this, is there anyway I can pay my share straight to the HA. They get £112 a week HB and the rent is £122 I pay £10 for the deduction.0 -
You can normally make payments straight to the HA over the phone, I don't know if they would need your parents say so that you are entitled to do this as its their account, but it would worth giving them a ring to see what they say.0

Will speak to them IF it gets sorted, if not might have to convince someone to let a room to a person on HB.0 -

That is what I suspected, they don't send letters like that out of the blue.
What are the chances? I need to know what to do asap because as selfish as it sounds I'm looking after myself, I'd hate to see them homeless but it is their own doing.
Would bailiffs take my stuff? laptop etc0 -
You need to go to Citizens Advice bureau. They will have details of charities that may help pay your deposit. I know where I live there is a charity that will help single people with deposits for rental accommodation. you will then be entitled to Housing Benefit yourself. Make sure it is paid directly to the Landlord so you aren't tempted to spend it.
No wonder your parents have been having nice days out - they have been getting £112 per week to pay their rent and obviously haven't paid a penny but been going out instead. What are their disabilities?
I would seriously concentrate on yourself and your own situation and let them deal with theirs. It's ridiculous of them to have allowed this to get this far when they have been getting money from the Government and from you.
Even if it means moving away. Seaside areas like Bournemouth have lots of hotels with live in staff. Just coming up to a Bank Holiday so might be worth getting on the internet and finding hotel numbers and ringing round for vacancies. Even if it is only until end of the season, it will give you breathing space to save and look for another job.0
