you know what - 2013 is going to be selfish ME year.

I took some items off sale cause a mummy in my 'baby friend' circle asked if I'd put them aside but she couldn't get over for a few days.
so I did....................2 weeks later I've just messaged her asking if she still wants him (the whole point of selling em cheap was to get em out my house before christmas).

Another one in the circle did the same with a coat I was selling. She asked this morning if she could come over at 4.
Decided not to go to the event I was going to go to as would have to rush back..................she messaged AT 4pm to tell me she wasn't going to make it cause they'd changed their plans and gone to the event I was going to go to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you would think in this current money climate that stores would be bending over backwards to get your custom.............. apparently not.

So far in the last month the following companies have lost/ will stand to loose my trade.

    Asda
    Argos (online shopping/ home delivery)
    WHSmith

    Lets start with ASDA:
Bought 2 boxes of ASDA smatprice washing powder online for home delivery with my grocery shopping. This has been fine in the past, but the new box clumps in the washine machine drawer rendering it useless. (this is not the machine that is faulty but the powder)

Took both boxes (and the block of powder out the washing machine drawer) back to my local store this morning - with a copy of the receipt that I printed off.

got told by sales assistant, supervisor and manager that they could not do a refund as they didn't sell the item and I had to take it back to where i got it from.

I advised I could not return it to the virtual online store and to travel to any other store would be a 2h round trip with toddler and baby and cost more then the 2 items.

I advised the item was faulty and they WOULD do a refund. And if they wouldn't they could ring head office for me.

After a conversation with the chap at 'head office' and after going through the same conversation as above again...............twice. he told me he would refund by posting me a gift card.
I politly declined this and offered to bring trading standards in as refusal by a company to refund faulty goods.
I explained had I bought at a larger store, or bought online and changed my mind I would have no problem with the 'no refund' policy but a company cannot refuse faulty items on the grounds it is "not on the system".

    Result:

25 minutes and 5 (3 in store, 1 on phone + his boss) staff members later I walked out with a cash refund.

They have now lost my £3000+ a year food shopping custom.

I explained had they said "we can refund or exchange" when I walked in I would have happily exchanged - and paid extra - for another box of washing powder. Instead I went to Tesco.

    Argos

I bought and paid for an item online over 2 weeks ago.
after a week I asked where it was - to be told they would look into it.
the following day a different department would look into it.
when they concluded it hadn't been dispatched as they had no stock but were trying to get some.
2 days later - STILL trying to get stock.

I have now requested they refund the money TWICE with no response and have had to open a paypal claim.
The only time they 'update' me is when I ASK.

    Result: ongoing.

    WHSMITH
Ordered 2 annuals online to be delivered to store.
1 week after order date they 'dispatched' them....... but could still take 3-7 days to arrive...................

    result: awaiting a collection e-mail.

This is after I bought a book/ dvd combi from them earlier on in the year to find out the book had been stolen. To their credit they sent me a gift card to buy the book seperatly...............sadly my store doesn't stock that title.

  • these NSD's are not going well...............are they lol.

Decided that in my boycott ASDA / save money bid I will do online shop with Tesco every week/ 2 weeks and get full weeks shopping. At the moment I do an online shop every 4 weeks, which generally gets topped up with milk/ bread/ whatever we fancy every week (spending perhaps an extra £40 a week)
Have paid the £60 upfront delivery saver which means I can have a £40 shop every day for 6 months (if I wanted to) with no delviery charge.

So have booked the next 3 weeks in and will update/ amend on the Thursday (for saturday delivery). Fingers crossed this will help us assess better what we use and what we buy.
(that and I am determined to live on salad for the next few weeks/ new year till i shift a few pounds of "baby weight".

Have told hubby it is basically "use up the cupboard/ freezer foods for the next 3/ 4 weeks so we can start with a clean slate.

I'll also get my clubcard points which is a bonus I've not been getting with Asda.

I have the Mr T 6 month Delivery Saver. This is my second 6 months of having it. previously I would do a big big shop at the beginning of the month and buy far too much. Would overbuy offers and buy far too much fresh stuff. Then I would find myself needing x, y and z so I would start another delivery shop and before I knew it, I would be checking out another £100 plus.....

I'm a bit more restrained now that I have the delivery saver although I get frustrated when I shop for a few bits and think I'll spend the magic £40 only to find myself spending near on £80/£90

I've decided that I am going to have the shopping delivered each week and then stay out of the shops at all times. Difficult at the moment but thats the plan for the New Year when I'm hoping to meal plan and stay organised. I've been making lots of post work trips to iceland/m&$ for their meal deals and this has blown the budget.
  • thats my aim too - fingers crossed we can do it togther.

that and myself (and others) have suddenly been given £100 in mums choice panel clubcard points...... ekkkk praying it's not a glitch and they honour it. roll on next statement that's DS1s birthday trip to legoland paid for.

well guess which mug left work early tonight to sort out DH's families christmas pressies..................every year I say I won't and every year I do....... GRRRRRRRRR

But after the 2 final tins of chocs and 2 lego kits are deliveredon saturday I am FINISHED - wooop wooop. (well I say that, I'll prob get a couple more stocking fillers if I see them and an extra £10'y pressie for DH).

THEN - DH had the cheek to say "you never finish work early"..........yes I do and if I hadn't hade to buy YOUR FAMILY's christmas presents I would have been home early tooo.
He didn't really have a good comeback to that one.
