  • Although not planning to go 'sales shopping' we do need a new nest of tables/ coffee table for the living room and bedroom furniture for the childrens rooms so I will be online looking for them and get them if I see at a good price.

  • wooops, sorry, got sidetracked into the let it snow thread.

DO Homes is going nowhere as DH keeps wanting 'couple time'.....ahh well gets me out of one more task on christmas day. :snow_grin

    yule log iced and sparkly.
gammon cooked (in cola) and resting ready to slice and put in the fridge for re-heating tomorrow. apart from the little bit i am stealing for tonights pasta bake.

all except the huge main pressies are wrapped and ready for going under the tree tonight. got those monsters to tackle when the kids go to bed tonight.

trying to pursuade DS1 to let me watch a christmas film but he's not having any of it..........so drowing out lego star wars film (for the 50th time) with very loud christmas music :snow_laug

  • Spends - W/C 22/12 - a week end summery.

ermmm it was Christmas week, there were sales, Dh decided it was time for DS to move back in his own room, that room has no bed/ furniture (they are in bunks etc) .......... lets just say one thing led to another....... the credit card is probably sat at around the £2000 mark (with £500 of that being in the last 2 days).............

I'm curling up and pretending the week didn't exist.

BUT next week is a new week...............we WILL NOT spend frivolously.
We WILL NOT buy the kids pressies every 5 minutes.
We WILL NOT buy something just because it 'looks nice'
and I have no more pressies to buy until 1 in February.

Tho we do have a holiday in April which I just know will go on the card and I HATE knowing that I had all debts clear until August just gone then with one thing and another it isn't going to be clear again for at least 12-15months (I've done the maths)....... Just want to cry-cartoon.jpg!
BUT I know it had to be got.....it's not like we spent £500 on a bed - we shopped around got the best price - £260 high sleeper bed with built in wardrobe/ drawers/ desk/ shelves + matteress that will last him until he's 10 years (so at least 6 more years) or older.

Most of the xmas gifts I bought this year went on my credit card plus the b00ts better than half price gifts of the week that I bought from me to me. not such a saving when you are paying it off for months on end and the bank slap on interest and payment protection each month. :(

I used to transfer my balances to a 0% interest card but its not such a good deal any more when the new credit card charge you to transfer your balance :(.

I'm thinking of visiting the sales today but have no sale spending money and anything I buy will have to go on the credit card...... I should stay away really but I can't resist the temptation to at least have a nose....
  • i know...it's terrible isn't it (tho looking at my finances I 'should' be able to pay around £400 into savings and £1000 onto my CC by our April holiday so should have some spending money but no doubt will use twice this (self catering).

I'm waiting for this newest £300 to go onto the current CC then adding it to my 0% balance one where the rest of the previous transfer is.
I hate paying the transfer fee but it certainly makes life easier to manage the money.

We WILL do better next year <<hugs>>

  • i should have defo started in january!!!

I'm not doing it religiously (i.e. I'm blowed if I have time to measure 100g of this and 2 tsps of that.... good ole guess work here).

I'd love to get swimming once a week or something but with me and DH working opposite shifts the only days i get off I'm at home with kids on my own and the other days I'm at work and if I were to go after I'd not get home till 9 ish (and have died of starvation).
Am thinking will just have to take the kids on extra long walks at the weekends.
And as soon as I have my eye camera sorted at the right height etc for the PS3 I can get back into my dancy games. + must dig out hollyoaks dance workout dvd as kids can do that with me on my days off.

but hey - I can justify a 'practice' week can't I!!! (given I have just used my entire 'weekly' points on tea tonight!!!...............and the bounty bar next to bed is sooo calling me) :D
