Have just discovered I quite like Tetley Redbush Tea - bought some from Mr. M's yesterday (£1.60 odd) and used a 40p money off coupon off it and later went into HB and found it in there at 40p (ish) a box
I took refuge here from the cutting down alcohol thread. I guess it was from one addiction to another :rotfl: So yep, it is red bush here as well.blue_eyed_girl wrote: »Think I might start sewing some cards just to build up a little supply should I need any at short notice - might even start some xmas ones. Was thinking of starting the Margaret Sherry 12 day of Xmas but I know it wouldn't get done for this year and I might feel a bit daunted by such a big project and don't really want to sicken myself with it part way through. No I've decided - cards it is ..............:D
I was browsing through the MS book yesterday. I would like to do some coasters for my colleagues for xmas. But I might be changing teams by then so don't know who I am gong to be working with. Better hold fire on that one.Don't normally say this but OMG dd has just started the cupcake cross stitch Santa gave her last Christmas and it has taken an hour to do 23 stitches and I am completely frazzled. I have re-threaded her needle a hundred times, unpicked where she has doubled the thread and I have no idea where 2 big loops have come from! And her response "it's not as easy as you think is it? Let's carry on tomorrow"
Shall I hide it now she's asleep and tell her dh tidied when he got back
My DD started an easy tapestry cow and I had the exact same experience. It has sort of been forgotten to be unpacked since we moved in May.tellmeitsfriday wrote: »I did a big Margaret Sherry project - took me about 4 years, and was finally finished when I was off sick from work for several months.
Ooooh - I love it, it is wonderful :j
Ruth - how about cross trainer, yoga or pilates? I found cross trainer better than the treadmill with knee problem.
No stitching done I have had the migraine from hell. Feeling better now so might get little bit done tonight."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

TMIF-that's such a shame that it's associated with bad memories for you. If you really don't want to look at it again, how about auctioning it off for charity? You could find a school fete or something & do it through that. Bit late for summer fetes I guess, but there's always Xmas ones.
Or give it as a present to someone in the future. It really is lovely & should be seen!
Marru-I did the cross trainer for the first time on Friday. It's really strange first off, but once you get going it makes you work hard!
I'm going to ask about yoga & pilates next week. I'm not very flexible & can't get up & down from the floor easily so am going to see if they think it'll be managable for me. Thanks for the suggestions. And that treadmill smilie is BRILLIANT!!!

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Another virtually alcohol free zone here. Drink tea all day at work or home, never coffee, although I too love coffee ice cream, cake and chocolates.
At the pub it's diet pepsi or if it's the one I work at I have been known to make myself a cuppa!
Will occasionally have half a shandy or a Smirnoff Ice but that's my lot. I get squiffy really quickly and can't cope with a hangover at all.

I love Sainsburys basic tea. I have never been a big tea drinker but last winter we ran out of oil so had no heating for a few days. In an attempt to keep warm I started drinking tea. I only have 2-3 cups a day but it's lovely stuff. I think last time I bought some it was about 38p for a box of 80.Don't normally say this but OMG dd has just started the cupcake cross stitch Santa gave her last Christmas and it has taken an hour to do 23 stitches and I am completely frazzled. Ah bless her, least she's wanting to learn something new.
When I got the Winnie the Pooh kit from my cousin I had to unpick all that she had done. Her granny had been teaching her but she just couldn't be bothered to finish it. I was shocked at how she had been taught!
She had done a row of about 15 stitches (lets say from left to right) then instead of going down and starting the next row under the 15th stitch and going from right to left she took the needle back to the first stitch and stitched under it. So much wasted thread!
I'm hoping to get some more stitching done this afternoon. We will probably have lunch, I'll get my stitching out, start watching the MotoGP that's recording then hubby will nod off. Bless him, I rib him for nodding off but he does work hard all week.
At the mo he's prepped one of the spare rooms for decorating next week and I think he's currently fixing the cat flap:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Did consider this but then when she makes a mistake I have to cut the thread off the needle - my class did embroidery on a high school visit recently and the teacher had tied threads round on all their needles in advance and it was a living nightmare as they were collectively as bad as dd. She is making bacon butties for lunch then we will have another go in the calm of day.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Right - I finally got some stitching done on that flipping Corrie street, it's looking better now. I am going to order the Sunset Mermaid chart (woudl look nice in my living room) so that will encourage me to keep at Corrie.
Regarding the problem ordering the chart - I got an email back quite quickly and the page glitch has been fixed so I can get the chart on it's own:T
Corrie can wait till tonight though, decided to get some cards made today since we have a whole day with nothing planned for once:j
Regarding the alcohol - I got bored of drinking years back, seemed to spend so much time avoiding it when I was either pregnant or had the kids to look after, I barely touch the stuff now - maybe the odd smirnoff ice or a martini but maybe only one or two a year.

I am about to retire to the sofa to stitch (lickle ted/xmas roo - still to be decided) but in the meantime have a curry on the hob and have just taken the chocolate muffins out of the oven. I've had Elaine Page on the radio but she is going to get switched off soon because she is annoying me now ! Anyway - she has been talking about roast dinners, then apple pie and cream and well its got me thinking - following my question yesterday about favourite tipple, what is your typical sunday dinner ? do you have roast ?
I personally am not a big fan of roast - I used to be and can remember when I was about 9 or 10 (so over 20 years ago now ) sunday was roast dinner and trifle and typically laying on my bed in the afternoon reading Enid Blyton. Sometimes we went to the park and other times I went to my Dad's allotment and I sat around not doing much while he weeded etc :rotfl:
Anyway, in my later years, Mum worked on Sundays so dad did dinner and this was usually a cooked breakfast type dinner but with chips and beans ! So I personally don't associate Sundays with roasts. I was just interested to hear what is your typical sunday dinner ? and if roast? is your specialty (and its lamb in the oven...) then what time shall I come round :rotfl:
and so as not to get shouted at for not being cross stitch related, what is the day you love most because its the day you can get the most cross stitch done and what is the latest time you have stayed up to just to get those extra few stitches in...0 -
Wow...I was only away a couple of days and we've not only moved but you gobby lot have written three pages!
Finished the first page of Tenby Harbour! (Well the first full page and the little extension page that fits on the bottom...call it a page and a half.) As you can see - took the advice and did the backstitching. That's only taken two sessions so is definately the way to go. It would be a huuuuge job to do it all at the end. There are many mistakes in it - things the wrong colour etc.etc. but I don't care - it looks fine :rotfl:
