Can I ask all of you well seasoned Cross Stitchers - how do you organise your projects and threads? I've been looking around on-line and there seem to be a few options. I'm just using some cardboard with holes in it, and the threads are getting tangled and ripping the cardboard all the time, driving me mad!

I usually buy kits so don't have many skeins of thread to store but the skeins I have are kept together in a large square pencil case type thingy.
When I am stitching a kit the threads are either on the card that has holes punched in it or more recently I have taken to putting each colour into a small ziplock bag with a sticker attached with the colour number and chart symbol written on it. I am finding that putting each colour into it's own bag keeps them looking nice for longer and stops tangling as I'm not touching them when getting another colour off the card.
The card or zip lock bags of thread are then kept in a bigger zip lock bag to keep them all together and clean.
I got the the ziplock bags fairly cheaply off ebay and the stickers came from Tesco (sheets of large stickers that I cut to size)

  • Awww Louise, they're lovely :)
  • sorry just had a quick catchup.

hugs to all who need them. At the moment toddlerwiggle has my hhugee Me2you bear to scare away his bad dreams but if anyone wants to borrow him (virtually) to keep that black dog away let me know.

Must not do christmas things in advance. It has JUST dawned on me as I was writing this thread (after I have bought and posted christmas cards for everyone) that I made some cards for people months ago!!!!!!! Grrrr have to keep them for next year.
Don't think i'm seeing family to swap christmas pressies until March - which is good as I am a long way from finishing Troutbeck for my mum.

Will try and pop in tomorrow but if not Happy Christmas. If you are AWOL for a while don't forget I will start us a new thread for the new year so look for the linky.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

*Louise*, love the finished piece you just posted.

I will catch up on the missed posts soon, not sure if i told you guys but my dog was diagnosed with diabetes in October, we have it under control now but sadly she went blind from diabetic cataracts a couple of weeks ago. Shes learning to cope but its so sad, shes only 9 years old :( We want to get her the operation to remove the cataracts but were told by the vet its over £1000 for one eye.
