Easy Jet - Airport Passenger Duty (APD)

  • Thanks for the info jmw20. I have tried ringing them 3 times today and just get the automated information which is no use at all when I need to ask them a question that isn't on their list! At the end of the recorded message it says you can press 9 to go back to the beginning but once you have pressed the number you want it then goes through a whole load of other information (that I know already having heard it all before!) and then at the end of that it disconnects you!

I've always praised Easyjet (get very annoyed with the people on the TV show who get there late and then complain they've missed the flight etc) but do feel that this side of their customer services leaves a lot to be desired!

Thanks again for the info, I'll just assume that I'm OK and I've paid.
  • Hi jmw20,

Thanks for that, it works a treat.

I should have thought of trying that earlier. Similarly if you go to the e-mail you had from Easyjet and click on 'Please click here to visit easyJet.com and provide the additional payment before 15 January 2007' it comes up with an address line(URL?) that has your booking reference in it.

If you just change the booking reference part of it to one of your other booking references you can then log in and pay the extra duty on that booking, and so on for all the others.

    Thanks again, Jim
  • [Thanks to JMW20 for the link that worked a treat

Just got home from weekend in Italy (Ryanair this time not EJ) to have mother in law worried her holiday flight with easyjet (which I booked for them) was going to be cancelled because she heard on the news that if this tax wasn't paid by tomorrow the flights would be cancelled.

So checked my mail and nothing. Checked my EJ account and nothing amiss, no demand for outstanding payment etc. Looked on EJs help text and it just says if you've received a mail it's genuine and paid it. And if you haven't received one. Followed JMW20's link and lo and behold there is a fee to pay.

Strikes me a fairly clumsy press release has started a bit of a panic and yes maybe since their helpline has obviously not been staffed to cope with this volume of calls, they'd be good enough to give a nice donation to charity for all the money they're making out of people sitting on hold for no reason whatsoever.

    Hi Jim

I just managed to pay mine by following this link that was posted on another thread.

    h**p://easyJetmail.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/eeOd0JGdl20NuI0BSJv0E2&l=EN&bookref=INSERTBOOKINGR EFHERE&email=INSERTEMAILADDRESSHERE

Just input your booking reference where it says so in capitals and your email where it says in capitals. Ignore the lower case email & ref bits. You will the be directed to a page where you will enter your password.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi jmw20
Where do I put this link to pay? Sorry to appear so thick but I really want to get this payment off my back as don't want to turn up for my flight and find that Easy jet has sold my seats to Barcelona. Waht an absolute pain!

Are Ryanair not charging the extra £5 from 1st feb?? I assumed on my free flight and the one I have booked I would have to pay it-will I not?

Same here, checked my booking yesterday for a flight to Italy in April. booking made january 4th, so after December 6th cutoff. Nothing in my booking about any extra charges.

Emailed EJ yesterday via their website form and got the response that a reply can take up to 20 working days i.e. 4 weeks !!!!

So used JMW20's link with my booking ref and sure enough £10 please !!!!

Now if I had not read this forum and not paid by today would I have turned up ant Stanstead to be told my booking was not valid.

    Not good EasyJet :-(

Also checked the same flight yesterday as if making a new booking, and the tax was still the same as when I booked, £18 IIRC, so are EasyJet deliberately not showing the new tax toi make their fares look a better price than they really are, then catching their customers out later. Not good policy I think.

Anyway, Mr Brown has another £10 of mine :-(, hope he spends it wisely, but i doubt it !!!!

    NOT TRUE ceejayblue.

I made my booking on 4th Jan for travel on 8th April and still had to pay the extra tax. Use JMW20's link to see if you need to pay - I am sure you will have to :-(

Try phoning 01582525422 (found this on other thread) and avoid 10p per minute line. This number costs 2p per minute and works! I phoned it at 10.55am this morning, waited ten minutes and got to speak to a real person! Paid the APD on flight booked on December 1st and also asked why Easyjet hadn't put a pay link on their website and was told they had tried but system wouldn't allow it. I have also got a flight I booked on January 1st. Was told there was no duty payable on this flight as already included. Apparently Easyjet have sent out thousands of e-mails but many have never reached recipients - like me! Have to say Customer Service rep was polite and very efficient.

Just called EasyJet on the above number and got through in about 5 mins.

Now I booked my flights early Jan for April travel and also used this link and was advised that I had to pay the extra duty.

I then called Easy Jet to confirm this and was told the following.

I did not need to pay the extra duty, the duty was correct at the time of booking.

EasyJet will look into why their website told me I had to pay the extra. So if you have paid extra for flights booked after 6th December, call EasyJet to get a refund.

They also told me that NO flights will be cancelled today. This information is completely wrong.

I did suggest that they put some info on their homepage to reflect the current situation.
