Easy Jet - Airport Passenger Duty (APD)

I've just received an email from Easy Jet concerning the increase in APD and telling me to log onto their website to pay. I've logged on, but can't see any link to find out how much extra this will be or how to pay. I tried to ring them but the number is really busy. Can anyone who's got the same point me in the right direction. Thanks PP

I just received a similar email. It appears the extra cost is a fiver per passenger per flight. I was wondering, is this legal? Easyjet has had my money for months now, as far as I am concerned my ticket is booked and valid. What to others think?

tell me about it. Just had a letter from Inland Revenue asking me to pay for the tax increase on the petrol in the garage stored in the can. Although I bought it from Tescos months ago, there is a tax to be paid as it has gone up.
Oh well.
Just a thought, if Labour Plc profits from our fuel tax, why arent they paying for the environment. I can see Green issues fast becoming a nice little earner.0 -
I've just received the same email. I booked in November for a flight in March. When I click the terms & conditions link in the confirmation email I received in November, I am taken to the terms & conditions that are effecitve from 14 December (which includes the paragraph on additional taxes), i.e. not in force when I made my booking. Does anyone have an older version of EasyJet's Ts & Cs that I could have a look at - not that I don't trust them...0

I can guarantee it's legal for them to enforce this tax, but some airlines (noticably Ryanair) are swallowing this increase (on the basis that passengers would revolt if you asked for it at check-in).
But for them not to make it simple to pay is absurd.0 -
Does anyone know how to check how much air passenger duty we have actually paid on our easyjet booking. ON the receipt which I have printed out, it only shows the total amount, and not the breakdown of the flights costs, and the APD costs. I ask this as I think that I have already paid £15 APD and don't know how to prove it?

Also received email re APD. I'm prepared to cancel the flights on principle - will this entitle me to a refund?0

Yes, for the APD paid so far. But, not for the flights themselves. You’ll also get some of the other “taxes and charges” component back, potentially less an administration fee.ezkay wrote:Also received email re APD. The email they've sent is so confusing!
The domain it is sent from (to me at least) is easyjetmail.com. This is different to every other domain that I've ever had email from easyjet. On top of that, my booking reference and email address are in the url that they want me to visit - not good. Finally, if you go to the home page of the url (easyjetmail.com again) you get the message that it isn't a web server!
With the number of phishing attacks around I really think that easyjet should have done better. There is nothing about this on their web page either which would help put people's mind at rest.
I've emailed them through their contact form and have the message that they'll respond within 20 working days. Very efficient, especially as they want payment within 10 days.
Not an impressed customer.

The link in my email had the wrong e-mail address for the purposes of login so was useless - I've logged in and taken screenprints of all the available options within 'view' and 'change' booking; it's clear that there has been no alteration of the website to make provision for such a payment.
We've followed there instructions, they have made it impossible to comply with their request - the ball is in their court.0 -
I did wonder if it was a dodgy email so I logged onto the website from my browser rather than via the link on the email - however, if they want us to pay this tax (which whilst doesn't please me, I realise I have to pay) they haven't exactly made it easy for us. If anyone managed to pay it on-line then let me know how it's done.0
