Easy Jet - Airport Passenger Duty (APD)

I called and paid it but: If you try to book a flight for instance from the UK to Italy both on january and febrary the taxes are £12...thefore they are not collecting that tax. they are just getting our £50

It's worth pointing out that the 0871 number will be income-generating for easyjet. If it's a requirement, and when they make the facility available, I will go on their website and make a further £5 payment - I won't be contributing to easyjets coffers on top of that.0

Its a tax that has to be paid before departure according to Easyjets T&C's.
So why are they demanding payment by the 15th Jan ??, I will pay if I have to, but at the airport before departure
Also as smilingit states, I have checked my flight tax amount for a January and a July departure and the tax is the same for both months, when are they going to start including this increase for online bookings0 -
Your joke has a point you may not have realised. When you see the petrol stations put the price of fuel up immediately the Chancellor has made his announcement, they are scamming you. The duty only increases for fuel leaving the refinery after the Chancellor has made his announcement. So unless you live next door to an oil refinery, the prices shouldn't increase until after the next delivery.
Anyway, APD is only payable when you actually fly. So those people who book and then don't fly are a nice little earner by the airlines, as they don't have to hand the APD over to HMRC.[/QUOTE]
ditto for cigarettes on the budget increase... in fact it is always in the retailers court!0 -
I have three flights booked with Easyjet - April - May and August. I received an e-mail re the April flight which contained a link that worked and paid the APD for that flight. I've not received anything for the other two flights. Like other money-savers I've visited the site and can't find a way to pay the APD on the other flights. I've heard on TV and read in today's papers that there is a deadline of tomorrow (15th) for payment. I've also tried the phone nyumber which tells you that there may be 'considerable delays' in answering. I've also sent ane-mail from their enquiry site but am not sure it was delivered as it froze my system ( both times). Can Easyjet cancel my flights if I haven't paid by this date? They're not making this easy.0

Hi, Same with us, We have 4 flights booked and have only had an e-mail about one of them, which we've paid via the link on the e-mail.
I don't see how they can cancel the flights if we haven't paid by tomorrow, the 15th January. Their terms and condition state
"If any such tax or charge is introduced or increased after the reservation was made you will be obliged to pay it prior to departure."
There's no mention of any deadlines being set, just prior to departure. I've e-mailed them but they say they take up to 20 days to reply, and trying to phone them is next to impossibe.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

I'm in the same situation. I am trying to make payment but cant see anything on the website when I log in and am having no luck on the phone. Just an endless list of options. I'd like to pay it before I get to the airport otherwise at check in there may be major delays. As I have a connecting easyjet flight to catch I cant afford any of those.
As soon as anybody has any useful information on what to do next I would appreciate if they could post it here.0 -
I booked a flight for 14 April on 4 January and haven't had any notification yet about the extra tax. I've just seen a very small bit in today's paper about payment being due by midnight tomorrow, but how can I pay if I haven't been told how much? Also, they charge 10p per minute to call them to find out how much you need to pay as they don't want people to use email to ask them questions about it.
I know this is a problem instigated by the government but surely it would have been easier for them to have automatically added the extra in to the taxes on all bookings made after the announcement so that there wouldn't be all this confusion?0 -

Hi Ceejay
You should be fine as you made your booking after the 6th December when the new tax was announced. Your booking will therefore have the new tax rate automatically included. The problem only effects people who made bookings before the 6th December 2006.

Hi Jim
I just managed to pay mine by following this link that was posted on another thread.
h**p://easyJetmail.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/eeOd0JGdl20NuI0BSJv0E2&l=EN&bookref=INSERTBOOKINGR EFHERE&email=INSERTEMAILADDRESSHERE
Just input your booking reference where it says so in capitals and your email where it says in capitals. Ignore the lower case email & ref bits. You will the be directed to a page where you will enter your password.
Hope that helps.
