  • I actually logged on to say that I didn't manage my 7 portions of F&V today - too tired and too much other stuff going on. I have started to notice a difference already though - in appetite, cravings, energy, and waistline! Whoop!

Back to work tomorrow - had hoped to dazzle everyone with freshly dyed hair, painted nails, the works but dedicated myself to MSE instead! Better go get some beauty sleep though as I need to make sure I pack up a mega healthy lunch box for tomorrow. Will hang my clothes up before I go to sleep.

Good luck with your wardrobe adventures! Its just something I do so I'm so glad you have all found it so helpful!

Oh and a little pin up girl tip for nails... If you look at the base of your nail you will see a crescent shape. Don't paint the crescent - leave it empty and paint the rest of the nail - it will make your nails look longer.

Thanks I will bear this in mind - anything to make my nails look longer.

Tips to get you to your 7-a-day - this is what i do and frequently hit 7 :D

250ml glass of fruit juice counts as one
    small packet of raisins (1)
lunch is usually spinach and carrot sticks and/or beetroot dipped in half a tub of houmous(2-3)
sweetcorn or broccoli with evening meal(1 each)
    apple (1)
dried apricots (3 or 4 counts as 1 of your 5 IYSWIM!)

This is what i do during the week anyway. I usually fall off the wagon at the weekend though :D
It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :j
    Happiness is not a destination - it's a journey :)
  • I have just fallen off the diet wagon in SPECTACULAR fashion (Fish and chips:o). We'd just been wading through our new tenancy agreement and after that I couldn't be bothered to cook, so we picked up chips on the way home. And I'd done so well today (loads of fruit, tuna salad for lunch and lots of water)

I like Nails Inc nail varnish - it's not cheap but it seems to last for ages and doesn't chip. I always wear red on my toes (even in winter when no-one can see my feet), as it makes me feel more "finished" IYSWIM, but have a break every so often, otherwise I end up with yellow nails - not glam at all! I am not allowed to wear nail varnish at work unfortunately (NHS rules!)

I've posted about nail varnish before and unfortunately the more expensive the varnish the more likely it is to last! Chanel is good, hard candy, urban decay etc. .

Sally Hansen Complete Salon manicure (fairly new product) is base coat, polish and topcoat all in one and claims to last for up to 10 days. I've had mine on for 4 days and I have no chipped nails even though my application technique isn't the best. Recommending it because it's much cheaper than than the brands mentioned. I paid €8.99 for it so about £6-7 probably. http://beaut.ie/blog/2011/sally-hansen-complete-salon-manicure-pictures-swatches/

Or if you have any of those £5 No7 vouchers from buying other things in Boots nail polish is almost free with them.

  • Blueberry porridge
    Apple
    2 clementines
    dried apple
    side salad
apple crumble = 6! If you ignore the fact that there is a lot of apple in there!

Soooo tired! 2nd day back at work. Lovely new dress (got comments), ripped leggings so they're going in the bin :(

No wine tonight and no wine tomorrow (fasting blood test Friday am) = dry week and I can enjoy the weekend ;).

Plan to have a bit of a spruce up at the weekend - lush facemask (in exchange for 5 pots), hair dye, pedicure and manicure. And catch up on lots of lovely sleep!!

Now I'm back to work all thoughts of beautifying have disappeared. I'm more interested in things like getting through the day without catching nits or worms!

    I'm enjoying reading this Ruby!

I have a soft spot for retro 50s stuff, but until recently didnt have the confidence to wear anything other than loose 'camouflage' clothes.

I have recently lost just over 4 1/2 stone, and have now bought some lovely dresses, for the first time in many many years... amongst others, I have two 50's style dresses with cherry print (a white one from matalan, and a black one from debenhams in the sale!) and I love them! I do wonder if I am a bit old for them (37) but I've never had the chance to wear things I like before so I've decided I don't care too much!

This is one of the dresses, I love this shape (not me wearing it sadly, just found the image via google!)

I also got this from matalan, in the sale for a tenner - but i wear it with a wider belt:

I love the get cutie dresses, and vivien of holloway, but sadly the budget won't stretch that far at the moment!

Re nails - I really should do mine, they are shocking; I can remember my aunt doing her nails with the little crescent at the bottom, she has lovely nails and used to always paint them like that.
  • Wow FC! 4 and a half stone - that's amazing!!!

The fab thing about 50's style clothing is that it really suits women of different shapes and sizes. Try my friend's ebay shop for cheaper dresses

    or

    http://www.attitudeclothing.co.uk/department_92_Women%27s-Clothing.htm

hell bunny and collectif are good brands to search for to.

If you're worried about your shape/weight go for a longer skirt (I go on the knee or just below) make the most of your boobies (that way nobody is looking at anything else! ;) ) and look at local craft fayres and markets for cool accessories etc. And invest in some good shapewear (I need to do this!). And always, always make sure you dress your hair and make up! Always!!!!
