Grabbit While You Can

I think this is very out of context, you are comparing riotors and robbers to grabbit deals? If you don't like the grabbit board you don't have to go there, there are those people who will order things for the sake of it, some who will order hundreds to sell on, some will push the boundaries like the tsco dtd and others will just order what they need. Some people have morals and some don't but the thing is for some people they were brought up like that, or it's in their culture or they just don't care - you can't tar everyone with the same brush, there will always be greediness in this world from both sides, buyer and consumer.
Bare in mind most grabbits aren't glitches, and it's not breaking the law. I have more of a problem with criminals than consumers getting a bargain.Comping wishlist for 2017

This is a really emotive subject and I don't think you can compare the two but I do agree there are times when I feel very uncomfortable with some of the things that happen and are reported on this forum.
If a voucher is meant to be printed out once it is not right to print and use it 10s or 100s of times. If you get something discounted it is not right to return it and get the full price refunded. I would say the vast majority of users would agree but there are the few who like to get one-over on any business large or small.
This is a fantastic forum and it helps all of us to get a bargain and a good deal. It is the same as everything else - sometimes people will overstep the mark and try and get something for nothing.0 -
If you don't agree with it simply stop looking at the grabbit board.
I am not against ALL grabbits. I am quite happy to take advanatage of discounts and genuine offers.
I am against people breaching Ts&Cs and taking what they aren't entitled to whether in person or on-line.
I'll continue to exercise my choice as will those who don't agree with my point of view.
I agree that you can't make a comparison with what's going on with the riots.0 -
Hi
Oh dear, at no time did I wish to imply that you were the same as the rioters, setting fire to buildings and smashing up peoples property. I just feel that over the last few days we have seen people just taking advantage of the situation and just going and taking things from properties that were insecure. Not everyone was causing damage, they were just looting. To me it just seemed a little similar to taking stuff from companies that made mistakes on their websites.
I am not holier than thou, I have taken advantage of these things, it just made me stop and think.

I don't agree with this.
Let say you leave your back door unlocked by mistake one day.
Does that mean it's fine for other to assume you intended to allow people to nick everything you own? Of course not. It was a mistake.
I am uneasy about taking advantage of some glitches.
e.g. groupon £8 for new customers.
Clearly this is intended for new customers not for anyone with 200 email addresses.
I think it's dishonestly taking something you aren't entitled to - morally.
You are probably safe legally.
I decided not to do that with Groupon.
Some glitches I'm happy to try, depends on the nature of it.
If I believe it's a genuine offer I'll for it.
as the OP of the groupon thread, maybe that was aimed at me?:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

No difference in my mind between putting on a hoodie to steal something and using a false email address.
I'm not holier than thou either, just trying to be a decent human being.
I wonder if those who think it's ok to take from unsecure shops/websites, think it's ok to steal from someone injured (that did happen during the looting), after it's their fault for leaving their possessions vulnerable isn't it??0 -
as the OP of the groupon thread, maybe that was aimed at me?
Personally I think it's immoral to pretend to be a new customer to get a benefit, just as much as it would be to dress up in a wig/beard in real life to pretend to be a "new" customer.
It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, I think everyone doing it is taking something they are not entitled to which I think is immoral, but clearly others have other opinions.0 -

Oh dear anneliza, I think you'll find shops were secure until the thugs smashed their way in or set light to them!!!0 -
lisyloo - in the name of decency, please do not compare glitches with the looting/rioting. I can only assume you haven't thought this through. There's one thing to be 'immoral' - if that's really what you think of people taking advantage of glitches, with the downright thuggish criminals who damaged, looted, and razed homes, cars, property, and businesses to the ground.
Quite frankly, I think your ideas are shameful and woeful.0 -

"Just" looting - JUST looting. anneliza, this is something you could have been shot for during the war. You talk of morality, but to minimise the looting, which we will all have to pay for somehow, somewhere is astonishing.
"Not everyone was causing damage, they were just looting". I want to cry with frustration that you don't understand the ramifications of this.
And you have 'unease' with glitches. I don't understand you.
PS you did more than 'imply' the comparison. Here is what you said:
"Does it sound a little bit like the riots we have seen on the streets where everyone is out for what they can get??"0
