My OH googled it but all that he found out was that it was a Southend number. I just think its suspicious that they withheld their number. Surely a legit company wouldnt do that.

Hi... I think if you do remember entering a competition you should definitely give it a go! Maybe try phoning from a phone booth? Or if you have a Pay As You go mobile... as then it cant trick you out of money.
If you're too chicken, gimme the number and the code, Ill do it Can do with a week-long break for two... hehehee
Oh and also, many companies withdraw their number when call... I got a call from marieclaire the other day and it was also withdrawn think its a callcentre thing...

I'm struggling to keep up with all the lovely competitions posted on here, so I hit on the bright idea of doing a search every day to see which competitions were closing on the same day, or the day after, and just entering those. Trouble is, I can't seem to get this site's search engine to pick up on the closing dates in the thread titles - i've tried 'wildcards' and even tested it using an exact set of numbers and spacing that were on a thread on the first page...still nothing. The only other thing I thought of was to go through the board page by page but then I saw some competitions closing soon that were waaaaaay back on page 50! I'd be tearing my hair out! Has anyone got any ideas on this? All help appreciated.

The search engine can be pretty troublesome at times, even for us when we are searching duplicate competitions!!

Maybe you could put a specific search in for something you want to win ie "laptop" or "Nintendo" and see if any of them finish in the time scale you want, should bring up less items too

Hi can't remember who told me but RoboForm is the best thing to use when entering online competitions that need forms!!! You can even set it up to do one click form filling for when you have to register with sites

I downloaded roboform and upgraded It by paying for the full version - I save loads of time using It.

I really dont know how I managed without It!

Hi, I don't know if I'm putting this in the correct place but I wonder if anyone else has had the problem of postcard competition entries being delivered back to you. Today I had 2 of mine come back, stamps in tact(so I steamed those off!) and they had been franked over my clearly marked as senders address. I had my senders address on a printed label stuck on the back at 90 degrees, as I have read somewhere, and I'd also put a dot in the middle of my postcode, as I'd seen suggested somewhere.
Is this something that I'll have to accept will happen from time to time or are there any other suggestions I can try to stop it from happening again? I sent off about 25 postcards over the weekend and, although I could be speaking too soon, there were only these 2 delivered back to me, perhaps someone in the sorting office didn't want me to win those. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for your suggestion, kipper. I wondered if it might be possible to have a 'competitions closing soon' sub-board. I've seen it on another competition site (but I only want to use this one - people are so friendly!). Although it would probably create a whole lot of work for someone...

I've been lucky so far and haven't had any. I use sealed evelopes with the front written out normally. On the back I turn it so I'm writing on it like an A4 piece of paper. I usually write the competition or the question and answer and then write my address and also put my telephone number under it. I generally doodle a bit around the edges too or just draw like a margin round the back. What a bummer though.

Do you think it would help if I wrote out, by hand, my address rather that use a printed label? I thought the labels would save me loads of time but thats a false economy if I'm going to have to re-do them regularly! I might be worrying too soon, it may not happen again but obviously i want to try everything I can to prevent it. Thanks again for you help:T
