the ones I've seen want you to pay for at least 6 months up-front.

Grape Vine doesn't - the minimum sub is 3 months (no Direct Debits and you can pay by pAYPAL) and you can get a free sample copy if you haven't had one since I took over running it. PM me for details

As for expensive - I reckon I earn less than £1 an hour. If you don't have masses of advertising it is very expensive to produce a magazine.

About the online sites, you don't get any spam from Loquax or Prizefinder, just a weekly email with links to some of the best comps. It's not like signing up to something like My Offers where you will need to change your email address to get away from all the spam.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi all, I'm a newbie,

Just wondering if any of you have heard of Big Win Magazine. I received a free copy out of the blue in November. Inside it advertised Entry Forms, so decided to send for 5 months supply at £11.25. Sent a cheque and received a poor pack of entry forms. Then about a week later received a letter from them saying they wern't taking any more orders, but they would still send out entry forms to those who had already ordered. Since then I have had nothing despite sending them an email. Any ideas what I should do now?
Hope I've posted this in the right place.

This seems very unfair. Most entry form services send you a good bundle of forms. I would write to them recorded delivery asking for a refund.

Hi, help please, apparantly I had a call from Daily Telegraph at 8.30pm last night, left name with my son ( which he forgot ) and said that they would call tomorrow, is this likely to be one of the Surveys these papers usually do as it was so late at night, thanks in advance.

Did you get another phone call?
  • Does anyone out there subscribe to competitor's companion magazine? Before I take out a 12 month subscription I'd like to know if it is good for telling you about tie-breaker competitions rather than prize draws etc. Any advice gratefully received.

I am a free member so cant really answer except to say that irrespective of your status you get all the competitions when you log in. However if you think about it they cant really give you 'tie breaker' answers as they are down to personal choice and ability to get at what the sponsor is after. The best way to do this is to look at previous ad campaigns and try and work out whether they go for humour or market forces or attention grabbing. Then using your own skill complete the tie breaker in the best manner, a play on words is always a good one.

    Best of luck
Member since Sept 2003, been comping seriously since 2004 and so far have won.........
A book (which never arrived) a Rugby ball (mother of three girls) and a cheque for £50. In 2009 my (one and only) win An Avatar goody bag (thanks to weeowen67) since then nothing. Come on Comping Fairy surely I deserve a little luck?

Thanks but I actually mean the magazine not the website. Apparently they are different companies. Thanks for the advice tho!

I've just subscribed to Winner's Friend, and there were a few more tiebreaker comps in the mag, but a lot of the competitions were phone in ones and most of those were at least £1 per call. As I am entering comps on a budget I found this cut down those I would enter. Could you contact the publishers and ask for a sample copy of the one you are thinkg about subscribing to?
