    Happy Birthday Lou!

    (hugs) Bitsey

    Tappers-hope Taplord feels better soon

    JackieO well done DGD

Hugs and kind thoughts to all who need them.

Still in bed with the lappie-aw c'mon it's the summer holidays........Late night last night as a friend who lives in Japan and is in the UK with OH visiting OH's family came for dinner. Did appetisers-stuffed tiny bell peppers, olives and feta, nice bread to pick at whilst I baked the salmon with lime and coriander and steamed new pots and veggies. Tarte au citron for pud with cream. Thank you thank you Mr Morrison! Not very OS but we did have lentil cottage pie Monday and today will be freezer surprise for OH and DS.

House tidy as did major cleaning yesterday and OH had vacuumed Monday. A friend is popping in for coffee later and I am going out for a meal with friends this evening. OH is going to train club with his new model engine(he saves 20p's up very OS....).

So better get showered and put the DW and WM on and sort out the ironing. May make some bread.

(Trying not to think about riots and financial crisis)

    Have a good day.

    Morning All

Hope everyone is safe and well, Reverbe let us know that you are ok.
My thoughts are with those in the troubled areas and also with the services trying to deal with it all.
    Happy Birthday Lou! :bdaycake:

DD was starting work at 7 this morning so got up with her and then went back to bed for an hour! When I got up one of the gutters was overflowing so I have been out in the pouring rain to clear them all. Just glad I can reach with the small ladder so I don't have to pay someone to come out. I have a builder friend coming today some time to do a few jobs for me, have to try to keep on top of the bits and bobs in the house before they escalate. He will put up my kitchen blind too, got one yesterday from H***base reduced to £7.33 from £27!

Washing on but will have to dry on the airers, glad I got everything washed and dried outside yesterday, I even ironed my bedding before I put it back on.

LO hm curry for tea that DD made yesterday (very good), she's back at work at 7 tonight so a long day for her.

    Take care all. XX

DH called out at 3am after getting in at 1. At least he gets the afternoon off. What's he going to do? Go diving. Mad.

Pouring with rain here. Dull and gloomy. Furry beast wants to go for a walk. Grrr. Think I'm going to get wet. Will have to go and buy ham to disguise the antibiotics for him - he managed to eat round the cheese I tried this morning.

    Happy Birthday Lou.

I hope everyone is safe after the riots.DH has promised me that he will shut up the office and head home if there is any sign of trouble near his office. Most of his staff are part time and finish quite early anyway. I also suggested making sure that no papers etc are left on the desks overnight in case somebody does put a brick - or worse-through the window. His office is in the centre of town . Somebody kicked the door in just for the hell of it one afternoon last year.

We are having the windows replaced today and it's raining! I had planned to go for a walk just to get away from the noise but it's no fun walking in the rain especially if like me you wear glasses-can't see a thing.

I have a meeting tonight so will make myself an omelette before I go. DH doesn't like omelettes so have taken him some macaroni cheese out of the freezer. There doesn't look as if there's quite enough so have taken out some ham to mix with it and will make him a salad.

One of the letters in the Metro today suggested adding some difficult-to-remove dye to the mix in water cannons so Police and also the families of the looters will know *exactly* where they've been and what they've been up to, great idea IMHO! I live in (a very small house) in a very nice area so we've been safe (from riots if not burglaries) but many of the people I'm working with this week live in the affected areas in south London. I'm feeling sad about Reeves Corner (having spent most my adult life in Croydon), DS is at his dad's in Croydon at the moment and has been forbidden from going into the town centre or on any visits to his father's friends in North London (though hats off to the Turkish Kurds for protecting Green Lanes!)

I have just accepted another freelance booking which leaves me with only one week of the school holidays to spend with DS. I was hoping they'd decide not to book me (as I can only do 4 days as we have a booking at the new business on the other day) but they did and I couldn't say no as I can't guarantee that offers won't dry up once the school holidays end.

We've received all the paperwork for DS's vocational course and I'm not best-pleased since they've all been shunted onto a course that's not at a 'proper' college (but a profit-making business who have already asked for permission to use video of the kids for their marketing) and they don't even have their own kitchens and the first term and a half will be completely theory. I feel we've been really short changed, he didn't get his other first choice option (music tech) either which I didn't complain about as the catering was the one he really, really wanted but now that that is not turning out as we hoped I wish I'd kicked up a fuss when I had the chance.

I'm off to Mr T tonight to stock up on non-food items, I've not been for weeks but everything is running low and I can't put it off any longer. If I can find a suitable jar or jars I'm going to included preserving sugar on the list as the brambles on the railway embankment are laden with fruit. I'll have to get DH to climb up to pick them as caterpillars regularly drop from them into our garden (brown, furry ones seem to love the brambles, or maybe the honeysuckle intertwined in them.) The brown, furry ones are the ones I fear the least but my phobia still wouldn't allow me to be taken by surprise by one when I'm atop a stepladder! I've googled a recipe as this will be my first foray into jam making!

    Hello x
Taplady - Hope your husband is ok x
    Lou - Happy Birthday :bdaycake:
Bitsy - looks like things have quietened down. Hope you and yours remain safe and sound

Still here at CP. Kids are a bit argumentative this morning so left them to it and came back to the villa. Sat out, wrapped up and cosy with a hottie:T:T:T. Have decided that I will get a recliner for our garden next year as it is very relaxing.

Can definitely feel the effects of my meds working now as it has been a full week. Still having moments but much less now which is good. Thankyou for your support last week - it helped such a lot.

Have a good day OS or not xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hi all,

Best wishes to all those in the effected areas x

Been a bit stroppy today, after OH said he was 'bored' of hearing about the riots on the TV.... He later explained that he meant he was bored of hearing the polititians making it about them and getting one-up on the opposition, and not about the poor people effected by the riots.

Having a cleaning day today, nothing like a bad mood to get me scrubbing every square inch of the house.....

Toad in the hole for dinner tonight, and have resisted spending for another day.

    Take care all x

I have just returned from my first blackberry picking trip of the year.

DD2 and her friend came with me and together we picked about 4lbs of blackberries.
We barely scratched the surface of the crop. There were absolutely loads left and loads left to ripen.

It is obviously a bumper year for blackberries around here.

Blackberry and apple crumble for tea tonight, yum.:)
