Tesco no longer giving full money refund + product?

when I went to Tesco Hove today to get a refund on an overcharge (well two) the lady said she would just give me the difference because of the change in policy, took me quite a bit of explaining to her that as long as the sign is still up that is what their policy is, she grudgingly accepted it, but I have no trouble with complaining to Trading standards about their rampant overcharging, one of the dvds i picked up today which had a label of £6.96 went through at £19.99.
I have been overcharged many times by Tesco and not realise it until too late, and am thoroughly fed up of it, if there was a morrisons or Asda near me then I would shop elsewhere0 -

Seems a little unfair to change the policy in some stores and not in others.
If it is the one I was in recently, there was a warning about faulty goods over it, it's still there, but I didn't need to point the policy out anyway, they just did the refund. If anyone is told the policy has changed, I'd stand your ground if the sign is still there and even if it is not, because it is a company policy, not a store one and unless the company policy changes as a whole, they have to enforce it, regardless of if they do, they are breaking the law, so give them the choice.
If they do change the policy, we should all ensure we contact TS everytime we get overcharged. In my opinion, they only have the policy to try and stop people going to TS, by keeing them happy - Afterall, misleading consumers about prices is a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection Act and TS can persue a prosecution. The last thing Tesco want is hundreds of people contacting TS. We could start a class action lawsuit against Tesco for constantly misleading customers on pricing and by doing so, making money illegally and a lot of the time without customers even noticing, the fact they are not doing it on purpose (Hmm, I wonder...) is not important either, the simple fact it happens is all that is required.0 -
On saturday I went to a very large Tesco Superstore near London (pm me if you want the name). I did my shopping but I was on the lookout for a nice dinner courtesy of MrT. Hubby found a 8lb joint of topside which was overpriced by 34 pence per pound an overcharge of £2.72, there were at least 8 of these joints of silverside and topside. The joint I chose was priced at £17.64, I would never normally buy this size of meat but with money being a bit tight I knew it would make about 4 days meals. I could have taken 2 or 3 but I would never do this as it would be a waste and greedy.
I went to CS with my joint and explained that the shelf price was lower than that on the meat and she checked it trhough the till, asked for my card and refunded the whole amount with a "Im very sorry about this here is your meat and full refund".
I have had the same courtesy at my local store when I was overcharged on chickens and lamb, I only bought 2 chickens at the time but again I could have had 4 or 5 and been greedy, same with the lamb.
I suppose the point Im trying to make is some people on here and other websites brag that they have bought 6 Xboxs, 7 DVD boxsets, 4 mobile phones etc etc etc and if they are using the same stores time and time again no manager is going to accept the loss somtimes again and again to the same smug person, that may be the case as to why some stores are changing their policy.
Im not siding with Tesco either because the CS who gave me the refund on my meat didnt even go and check the price on the shelf or try to rectify the overcharge on the meat that was left, so unless someone with prior knowledge of overcharges and R&Rs anyone who wasnt aware would but the meat and be overcharged by at least a couple of pounds which I think is disgracefull.
I also want to say how disgusted I was to read that some people were getting R&Rs on DVDs which they were then taking into WH Smiths exchanging for a gift card and then using to purchase a giftcard for another store like comet or similar. That is just downright dishonest, disgusting and morally reprehensible. WH Smiths are struggling and could end up closing, people will lose their jobs and all with no help from these dishonest, greedy individuals with no consience.
As always it is the minority who spoil it for the rest, greed takes over and its thanks to that minority that Tesco will make even more money by overcharging us if they only offer double the difference. I for one will be contacting Trading Standards for every overcharge if they do this and I urge everyone else to do the same.
A final word to the Greedy ones, I believe in Karma and what goes round, comes around, no good will come of your abject greed.
be lucky

Asda give you a £2 giftcard in addition to the difference
I never got this in my local store and only the difference overcharged so I e-mailed customer services to tell me it was at the descretion of the store and I should bring it up with them if I wanted.

Ive read about the R+R in the Tescos but what I am wondering is that if you are doing a 'big shop' how can you remember what each price is to know you have been overcharged?:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -

had a real bad experience today, i usually shop on tuesday, and done 2 times of R&R with the same SA, and today i spot some meat which is obviously over charged. she is still polite and ask one of her colleauge to check ( normally she do it by herself), and suprisely later manager came, and she told her this is my thrid time to get R&R, then they try to give me the difference,
i did not take that, refund them instead ( i did keep one for each kind of meat), i am not a greedy person, they add up less than 25 pounds.
hopefully, they donot ban me from store,
and i think i need to chnage my haristyle...
do i need to call their head office? as i said to them, it is your resposiblity to keep the price , they may think i abused it....0 -
I don't really do this R&R thing - at least I don't set out to do it! I only go back when I realise afterwards that I have been overcharged by Tesco. This does seem to happen every couple of weeks - and these are just the ones that I notice!
The customer services always try to get out of giving the R+R (even though I only have one item), and some of the excuses are quite silly.
Funny, I have never yet been under-charged for anything. The mistakes are always in their favour.......................0 -

re R&R on meat - I would have said "that as I had been overcharged before I always check the prices now as in the past I have wondered how much I have been overcharged. Lets face it my small overcharge is alot cheaper for Tesco than me contacting trading standards" - then ask "it the fine not £1000 per item on the shelf." so really its a drop in the ocean to the fine you would get ? Have you a problem pricing your meat correctly it means to be wrong quite alot ?
I am polite and never had a problem - it may even be worth mentioning this to the original SA when you go - "gosh the fine this store would get from Trading standadrs would be hugh as I am constantly finding mistakes, " that should make her think before calling Manager.
I wouldnt call head office its not worth it as they may take your name address etc and monitor your clubcard when you use it.Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T0
