So if you are contributing nothing of worth to the thread, why are you still talking?

OP, you have my sympathies. Hopefully anyone reading will now put pin locks on their sims to prevent similar situations.

it was a comment simply trying to expand the subject of who is responsible for account security.....in future read the thread before making silly remarks.
  • So it seems that there is little I can do by the amount of replies telling me it was my responsibility. I accept that I should have had a PIN setup but clearly there is nothing I can do about that now.

Another question then, my contract with Orange is registered to a UK address but I now am a resident of Botswana, if I accept the 50% of charges they have offered and then do nothing about it, I have read that after 6 six years the debt is no longer in my name, is that true?

I think this is true only if Orange (or other company that they sell the debt to) do nothing for 6 years to recover the debt.

However, the default record in your credit file is unlikely to stay there for more than 6 years.

My contract SIM with Three a) has a PIN, and b) has a credit limit of £0 so out-of-bundle usage is disallowed.

It wasn't difficult. Took about three minutes on the phone. And may one day save me £6,000.

    It's always the simplest things...
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

If you don't pay it the offer of dropping it to half will expire and they'll chase for the full amount.

After some time, they'll be collection agents knocking at the door of any and all address's they can find for you (not in Botswana obviously!).

Clearly if you never intend to return to the UK it might seem to be an option but that would depend on which other address they can find for you and if you want to potentially put members of your family through having to prove you no longer live there ?
Just telling the agents that come to the door that 'he doesn't live here any more' won't wash with these people, they hear that all the time. They will have to prove that you don't.

I read your post, I feel that you contributed nothing realistic or useful to the issue which is why I was even more flummoxed when you accused others of posting "useless twaddle" when their posts were more relevant than yours.

But please, continue ranting against "the man", I am sure that will help the OP.

I wouldn't waste your time with this one. His posts on this thread are totally pointless and casual reading of his posts on other threads confirm that if there is any "establishment" involved, then he is against it.

Your contributions are worth more than feeding this troll.
  • if any of you can be bothered to read the thread you will see apart from my first 'comment' that was addressed to nobody in particular all my other posts(apart from this one)are in response to silly comments that were addressed to me......that's how threads are formed. So base your comments in context with what people have posted and stop acting like a load of jumped up idiots.
