as per usual all the forum corporate groupies are focusing on the customers responsibility for the SIM and ignoring the Networks responsibility for monitoring and protecting the account that they have loaded with unlimited credit.

So, by your argument, if I bought a house, failed to insure it and it burned down, the bank is to blame???

Look, you can not close your ears and eyes to the fact that OP did not put a sim/pin lock on their sim to protect it.

You can also not know so little about mobile networks as to ignore the time lag between the overseas network informing the local network of high charges accruing - admittedly not £6,000. If some calls were made in March, what happened to the April bill?

Getting back to the point - there are 2 separate locks that OP could have applied and didn't do either, despite moving to a foreign country.

So, certainly OP has my sympathies, but your anti-capitalist/big business stance flies in the face of reality. Not because I am some "corporate groupie" but because I can take an objective view as to where the blame lies.

befuddled nonsense, I wasn't putting forward an argument, I was simply making an observation

No, you were taking a stance - sorry making observations - you have taken in other posts and avoiding perfectly valid points made by those you choose to label corporate groupies.

I'm a corporate bod, but not in telecoms.

Doesn't change the fact the OP did not take care of the sim and so is liable until it's reported.

Shouldnt the network have applied a cut off to the account or does that only apply to when in europe. The sim was in the OP's care which you cant deny wantmemoney

And as usual, those ignorant of how the UK networks are billed by mobile network companies outside the EU trot out the above.

It only applies within the EU where usage between roaming companies is communicated real time to the users own mobile network. Outside of the EU, the first your mobile network gets to hear of it is when they're sent a bill at some point.

so should the OP simply print off your posts and hand them over to Orange as relevant information from a true expert?
