0845 & 0800 from mobiles

I get 600 free minutes on my contract but just realised that ive been charged £12 the past two months just from calling 0845 & 0800 & 0844 numbers (only for 20 mins total).

Is there a way of accessing these numbers for free from mobiles?

I don't have a home phone number so need to be able to call these numbers a and when I need to.

You would have to use some of your inclusive minutes,and 0845 calls would be chargeable but no doubt cheaper.

For cheaper 0845 not 0844 calls you can use http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php via there geographical number.


Have you tried to find alternatives at www.saynoto0870.com ?

The minutes are not free they are inclusive, as I understand GG allow free calls to 0800 numbers, the 0800 to calling card access maybe blocked though.

http://www.savacalldirect.com/countrydetail.aspx?country_id=216 allow you to make no charge 0800 and cheaper 0844/0845 calls from your inclusive minutes via geographical access number.

I have seen nothing to suggest GG are blocking cheap call freephone access numbers.

When Orange used to offer free calls to 0800, many myself included signed up to 1st telecom and abused the system, as Orange blocked access to one 0800 number another would be created, in the end the free calls to 0800 stopped to all but a handful of numbers, that said there is a new 0333 code which will be inclusive minutes for mobile users.

Yes i remember it well

There are a number of 03 codes that are included in inclusive minutes not just 0333 . They are all treated the same as 01/02 geographical numbers.

030 numbers (0300 - 0309) - specifically designated for public bodies and not-for-profit organisations.
033 numbers (0330 - 0339) - available for any person, business or organisation.
03 migration numbers (034x, 037x) - only available for migration from an existing 08 number or range (084x and 087x).

Depending on your handset there are apps available that intercept the dialer when you try to call an 0800 or 0870 number then look up a geographical number for you to try instead.

If it's not an android or iphone then I guess your left with saynoto0870 etc on the web first

I've installed an 0800 blocker app on my phone which finds alternative numbers. It seemed to work just now when I tried it.
Savecalldirect seemed to focus on international calls.
I've signed up to 18185.com. Thanks for steering me up the right track you guys are so helpful.

Whilst they do cover Intl calls as does 18185 they clearly cover UK non geographical calls not covered by 18185 etc 0844/0871 etc.

The apps you can download are usually only as good as the saynoto0870 data base from where the alternative numbers are probaly obtained.;)

You could use Skype to call 0800, it is free ....
I have tried it many times ...
