Your best bet for 0800 numbers is clearly Giffgaff because they are always completely free. No idea about 0845 numbers but I think there's a mobile comparison site that lists the price for 0845 numbers for all networks in a sortable list...

So the Op should get a GG sim just to make 0800 calls ?

18185 3p a minute price plus a connection charge to call 0845 numbers via your mobile is cheaper then any mobile companies direct access.

Yes - GG is pretty much unbeatable for 0800 numbers especially when you get £5 free credit.

My Vodafone contrtact allows me to use 0800/0808/0500/0845 and 0870 calls within my minute allowance :)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Really? Can you link to the deal? I've never heard of this...
  • Tesco mobile 'Lite' sim is 8p to 0845 numbers and after the first minute the billing is per second and not rounded up to the nearest minute. This is the best from a uk sim without using a dial-through service or having those numbers included in your contract deal (I think t-mobile and Vodafone allow this to be set up for a monthly additional cost).

18185 is 8p for the first minute to 0845 then 3p per minute after that (rounded up to the nearest minute).

I am on giffgaff and I have a Tesco Lite sim in an old phone for these type of calls, though for anything that isn't a freephone number (giffgaff), I check saynot0870 first.
    ''apply within'' :)

I know that you can get a bundle which allows you to use your inclusive allowance to make calls to 0800,0845 and 0870 numbers. There is a Vodafone business tariff which allows you unlimited calls to just about any UK number. But its priced at £65.00 pm.
