On American websites such questions are perfectly normal and not received with outrage, and Wikipedia entries for places routinely include ethnic information. We like to pretend such information is not a factor here, but read the ethnic information on primary schools in OFSTED reports, and you will notice our society is every bit as much divided along racial lines, with huge variations in neighbouring schools. It goes against my 1970s Ebony and Ivory middle class upbringing, but that is the world we live in today. Most white parents would not choose to live in a non-white area.
    Been away for a while.
  • Old houses terraced houses, steep thin streets, not much work, plonked on the base of the pennine moors like a wart with no fixed address, wet, cold, windy, looks like a tent city made out of stone. Twinned with the crap hole called Burnley, indeed it is hard to tell them apart. But don,t lose heart where I live ain,t much better, but would I live in Nelson?, hell no.
Only positive thing you can say is the house prices are very cheap, hardly surprising tho.

Hi why wouldn't you live in Nelson? Because of the dull and quiteness or some other?
  • Where do you currently live ? If you share that information, people might be able to do some comparison for you and advise whether Nelson will an upgrade or downgrade.
