Once you receive the payment, send it 'Special Delivery' to the buyer's 'confirmed' address is PayPal...insured for the correct amount...it is trackable...that way he cannot say he hasn't received it...if he does, you will have proof to the contrary. Or you could even suggest he picks it up in person if he is anywhere near you perhaps...and give you cash?

I think thread moved on a little from original post. Seller declined to sell and refunded payment.

Well, whoever buys it, but especially if it's this guy:

Send this sort of message when dispatching.

    "Hello there,
Just thought I'd let you know, your item was sent out today by Special Delivery. For your protection and peace of mind, I have taken a note of the IMEI number (and any other numbers, sorry been a while since I handled a boxed phone!) in case of any loss in transit.
    Kind regards"

Of course, as standard, mark the item as dispatched AND fill in the tracking number on the item itself on eBay (this is easily done). I would take photos of the phone working, next to a newspaper from the date it is dispatched if possible, and also scan/photocopy/photograph the side of the box with teh IMEI and other numbers. Get proof of postage AS WELL as sending it Special Delivery only. Keep all these pieces of evidence safe for 6-12 months in case of any comeback.

Doing this offers no additional protection, all you need to do is get a broken phone of the same make and model remove the rear cover which contains the serial stickers and swap them.

Return the broken phone with the swapped rear cover and as long as the phone don't turn on you can't *#06# the imei.

The photo evidence means nothing as a fault could appear any time after the pic was taken or in transit.

I think you did the right thing his reaction alone was very dodgey and that with his/her history! I would have done the same.
