  • Ok, so here's what happened in the end ...

    I emailed him yesterday afternoon to say I was concerned by the number of problems he had had in the past, and when he did email me back he was VERY defensive saying it's not his fault ebay's full of people that try and rip you off, he was also emailing me at least every five minutes - before I had chance to reply to the last one, with lots of exclamation marks and capital letters in his emails.
    Maybe this sounds wrong to some of you, but I'm sorry, I just didn't like his attitude - so I emailed him one final time, telling him I wasn't sending the phone, I'd told him my reasons and I wouldn't be changing my mind, and refunded him. He declined the request to cancel the transaction, continued to email me at least another 8 times and left me negative feedback.

    I only normally sell lower value items on ebay, haven't sold anything high value for quite some time - but as I didn't need it any more I thought why not? Maybe I was being paranoid, but I couldn't afford to loose out on this.

    I'll stick to my lower value stuff from now on :o

    Thanks for all the advice though guys :)

    I would have not sent the phone either. You have to do what feels right.

    Always do what feels right but as this has cost you a great deal in fees you might want to reconsider whether to list it on ebay again or try a different selling venue.

    He will definitely be blocked, I know it'll still cost me the fee's but I'd rather lose that than lose the lot.

    I only normally sell unwanted bits and bobs, will continue to do so just sticking to the lower value stuff.

    Is there a local facebook selling page for your area? I had a quick look through a few of mine last night & phones seemed to sell really fast on there. No fees & the buyer collects, checks & hands over the dosh. You obviously have to be happy with people coming to the house though.

    I would still go ahead and PHONE ebay to see if they'll remove the neg, and tell them about the "crazy" buyer.

    The problem with live chat is that it seems to be staffed by people who are either stupid or so hungover they can't be bothered, so you'll never get a sensible answer out of them.

    Phoning can also be hit and miss, but if you phone back if you get a dud 'un, then you might get someone with some common sense the next time!

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    He's a bit of a touchy bloke isn't he? Gets an email jnferring he's a scammer and kicks right off. Then refuses to sort you out with your fees AND gives you rotten feedback. Ring ebay, tell them you only sell to people you like and they will sort it out for you.
    It's obvious the staff you spoke to were on the beer by not agreeing to let you out of a sale, or they were dumb as posts. Refusing to cancel a sale because you had a feeling about the buyer. What were they thinking?

    not sure of the phone but try the compare selling phone thing on here. I'm just about to send my w205 off to cex and there giving me 12 quid for it and its years old now, so might be worth comparing them as they send either a courier or a pre paid envelope (sold my wii to asda the other week too, went all ok) then theres no fees, no hassle, no customers and no problems :)
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

    Once you receive the payment, send it 'Special Delivery' to the buyer's 'confirmed' address is PayPal...insured for the correct amount...it is trackable...that way he cannot say he hasn't received it...if he does, you will have proof to the contrary. Or you could even suggest he picks it up in person if he is anywhere near you perhaps...and give you cash?
