I'm quoting a quote - I haven't read the whole thread - but I so agree with NDG. It wasn't like he was young either 29 !!!!!!. If you carry a gun you have to assume you are going to use it.0 -

I wouldn't want to become the person who enjoyed throwing stuff at people. What would that make the rest of us? It wouldn't be a society I wanted to live in, [people I want to live amoung. If the ''good'' are vengful thugs too, what hope do we have?0 -
I was meaning chained at the ankles really tightly too. It may not be a great solution, but I would like to see it.
...I am not digging you out here but it can't be done....even if you would just like to see it. It wouldn't solve anything and one way to make an angry mean person angrier and meaner is to humiliate them as a type of punishment.
Please don't think I am namby pamby but sweeping 'chain em up' 'send em to war' type statements aren't the soloution.
The bulk of those involved are doing it for 'the crack', the bravado, fuelled by adrenalin/testosterone. I think it's awful (esp for businesses/individuals hurtt by it like the poor Reeves shop that got burnt out) but these riots require an organiser/s to get things going and they are the ones that will be well out of the way if the police swoop and make arrests.0 -

I think the answer is either a grown up sized nappy, or tighty whities. *
* this is in a fictional world......I would only half enjoy seeing this come to pass.
I actually think their are two powerful tools, stigma and financial (encompassing food, where you sleep, your choices). I can't help feeling that if people cannot make responsible choices we should for them if their choices result in harm to others. So, crisps, fine for the non criminal, but convicted of a crime....muesli bar...at a time dolled out byt the state. Living becomes a single room in a hostel, meals provided.
Sort of...prison without the frills!
(this is all highly unrealistic, but you know....better than chain gangs.)
A pudding bowl haircut and something like a nappy to wear would be great! One can dream0 -

I don't think that's the case though, the lure of getting something for free seems to be a strong trend. Many photos of people looting goods.
Just on BBC News, everyone is smashing in shops and carrying as much as they can.0
