Me too..........so, then they would end up fighting each other so you would have to have the chain gang group made weaker in some way. In the olden days that would have been done by force or restraint.....chained around ankles for example. I am not seeing this ever happening and not a good image for those London tourists who come to visit either.
20 young lads chained up by the ankles in a line and being shouted at as they trudge along Oxford St, picking up litter....not seeing this as a solution at all.
I was meaning chained at the ankles really tightly too. It may not be a great solution, but I would like to see it.0 -
......it's just not a practical solution this......I don't think the Somalian Govt would want our problem citizens either. Why would they? Bit insulting to them to assume that they would welcome them over.
Well, yes, but it doesn't seem to have stopped the Somalians exporting the worst of their vermin to us, does it?0 -

I actually think they should bring back stocks so we can chuck tomatoes and eggs, etc... does that make me old? a bad person?

And anyone who tals about the "Feds" following him is clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic. He doesn't know what country he's in!
We called them "feds" and "cossacks" when I was a kid in the 70s it's just slang.

They just had someone on the news who owned a shop (I think maybe the big one on fire) thats been in his family since 1862 ish poor man could hardly speak
That is really tragic. These small shops give character and life to an area and few will be restarted. In their place will be yet more anonymous chains operating out of prefabricated sheds.
I keep thinking of the poor devil whose florist shop was gutted. For heavens sake, what harm has a florist ever done to anyone?!0 -

You see, I have always thought the solution was simpler. Orange jump suits have become very popular in some music cultures....so I thought...what couldn't be so....
I think the answer is either a grown up sized nappy, or tighty whities. *
* this is in a fictional world......I would only half enjoy seeing this come to pass.
I actually think their are two powerful tools, stigma and financial (encompassing food, where you sleep, your choices). I can't help feeling that if people cannot make responsible choices we should for them if their choices result in harm to others. So, crisps, fine for the non criminal, but convicted of a crime....muesli bar...at a time dolled out byt the state. Living becomes a single room in a hostel, meals provided.
Sort of...prison without the frills!
(this is all highly unrealistic, but you know....better than chain gangs.)0
