I think they are worse than scum, the shops the are setting fire to have flats above and they are the sorts of flats people wouldn't chose to live in, its all they have. I feel so sorry for them.0

There's a great video of a woman telling it as it is in Hackney:
http://www.twitvid.com/4JTZH
Good for her and good for the person who filmed her and put it on twitter with a searchable title.
The difference this time around is all the social media being used to record events etc.
The majority feel the same as her and I am glad it's on film and out there.0 -
Where has he gone? He will do a good speech about it all at some point....probably bring up some classics/ancient historical references in it too. I do like Boris...sorry to confess that, but the language/analogies he uses are great sometimes.
He's coming back apparently.... along with everyone else...only took 3 nights of rioting0 -

I live in Peckham. Got back into the area about 6pm to find pretty much every shop in Rye Lane (the main shopping thoroughfare) putting its shutters down and closing, plus groups of young men in hoodies walking towards the centre of the town.
After going to the gym, I got back to mine to see a big cloud of smoke (coming from the shop that's burning down) and a fair amount of people about - however not that many young ones around and most appeared to be heading home. Fortunately - compared to Hackney and Lewisham it seems - it has (touch wood) been not too bad here.
Hmmmm. Just found out that my local Tesco Metro and petrol station have both been looted, and the scumbags are also roaming around East Dulwich - utter travesty all this.0 -
My Dad has gone to Bingo tonight just round the corner from the Reeve's corner furniture store that's a big BBQ right now in Croydon
I haven't managed to get in contact with him yet. I hope he's OK
I hope your dad is ok too!
Wonder when Dave comes back if he's going to hug a hoodie now?0 -
