But we notice you never did answer my message, of how much 445mins 50 mms and 780txt would cost me on GG?

£18.60 if you bought the £15 goodybag and an extra 45 mins of calls. Admittedly you would probably be better off on a contract as you wouldnt be paying too much more and get a free phone.

For me however it is ideal. I use less 100-200 mins a month, few texts and about 1GB data so pay £10 per month. I also work offshore so often spend 3 weeks away and try to time buying goodybags so I am paying nothing while offshore. I have alot of free time offshore so spend a bit each day on the (excruciatingly repetitive!) forums and get about £10 a month in payback so my usage is essentially free.

I like the unlimmited internet as sometimes I can use alot more and dont have to worry about my usage at all. I also do not want to be tied into a contract as I am hoping to move abroad in the near future.

I remember reading an article about all PAYG rates increasing (on here, not giffgaff forums!) but may be wrong about that, I genuinely thought giffgaff had the best PAYG rates for texts and minutes.
  • A quick search shows tesco is now 25p/min and 10p/txt on PAYG for new customers http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/call-charges-payg-freecredit.aspx

Some operators disconnect numbers that haven't been used for a long time, so it's a good idea to at least ring another number periodically, just to let them know you are still there.

Tesco Lite is still 8p per call and 4p per text - http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/help-and-support/call-charges-payg-litetariff.aspx

Strange 1st post, can people join without mentioning you as a referral?
Someone who uses the phone a lot for outbound activity arebetter with a sim only deal.

This thread is about the OP who doest want to make a lot of outbound calls even if he does make a lot of calls GiffGaff offer some good deals still without contract.Contracts can be extremly expensive just look at the people on the forums with 2000 and 1000 pound bills who took there phone abroad and the person who lost his phone 1000 pound bill wrong billings etc you wont get that with cheap paygo.

  • At the top of that page it says "PLEASE NOTE: On the 28th February 2011 we made a number of important changes to our Pay as you go tariffs. For more information click here. " when you click the link it takes you to a new page where prices are more than 3x for minutes. I read this as the current price plan, I may be wrong, if so Tesco should consider making the change clearer.

They changed the price tariffs on their standard PAYG in Feb - Their Lite tarriff remained unchanged and you can still order sims, It was previously known as 'Tesco Value' tariff - https://www.tescomobile-freesim.co.uk/lite-sim/

Hmm a nice round £20? considering there would be £8 of mms ;)

At least you have the courtesy to realise that GG is not always the best option, not sure how you got to £18.60 though, 50 mms would cost £8 on GG, , I too get unlimited data which is not subject to a 500mb FUP, and the short calls are not billed in 1 minute increments, no such thing as a free phone :D

Indeed the OP will not solely have to look at GG as the call rates are replicated by other providers. My handset has been away with me abroad and no sign of high bills and never had to purchase insurance for a handset, you say that you won't get that with a payg, the credit balance could be diminishing due to roaming and/or data use.

Yes you can loose credit while roaming abroad but its limited to he credit on the phone where as on contract its ulimted can be thousands dont know any ones whos put thousands of credit on paygo and if you havent had mobile stolen or lost your lucky but if you do on contract and dont notify fast enough your bill will be thousands again on paygo just small amout of credit on your sim.
