I have never posted my referral link, just advise that they could be the cheapest option and are worth a look. Most people have not heard of them so may miss out on a great deal if they dont consider them as an option.
Well the rate GG offer for calls and text are exactly the same as Tesco mobile payg 8p/min and 4p per text, besudes that if the OP as mentioned is only going to use the phone for emergency, then the call rates do not really matter :T0 -

To be fair you did not, but in that you are an exception.0 -
Complete list of U.K. MVNOs:

Plenty to choose from and no need to use one of the big 4 unless their offer suites your usage pattern.0 -

They are a company that offer true money saving, which is what this forum is all about, so why all the negativity towards them?
Also, you say you have good O2 coverage, giffgaff work off the O2 network so would be ideal.
So do Tesco mobile who's call/text rates are exactly the same as GGgiffgaff are not spam but a lot of people who missed out and signed up to expensive competitors like to poo poo them, its just sour grapes. Have a look at their website and make your own informed decision. They run on the o2 network so you are getting the same service.
Whatever you decide, make sure the network you choose has adequate coverage for your area, if he has an emergency he'll want a phone that works.
Either the subscribers are duped into beleiving that there is no alternative to GG, or just suckers for pryamid selling schemes.0 -
Adsa mobile is not really suitable for VERY occasional use:
"Credit does not expire as long as a chargeable event is made within 3 months."
Oh I am not on GG either! I am Asda.0 -
I have just got a new Virgin PAYG and am now worried! I make so few calls and texts that the cost per item is not important, but I hope that my credit balance will not disappear at the end of the month.
I always thought that Virgin were very good for PAYG: have things changed?Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I changed from virgin.i found my credit disappearing as i used the phone so rarely.
Not had the same problem with Tesco mobile lite tariff.8p a minute, you can't fault that, and double points on top ups. They may also send a free sim card to you but you must check that the old phone will accept it,my virgin phone didn't so i got myself a new, cheapy one.
With double vouchers and a christmas gift card it cost me..............nothing!!0 -

The balance will remain, basically you get some add ons when you top up, the add ons last 30 days, but the credit balance remains and standard rates of 26p/10p voice texts applies.0 -
Than you DUTR! What a relief.
I now understand that unless I top up every month, I will lose the free texts etc. but my actual credit balance is safe. Only people who use their phones a lot will benefit from the free offers.
Do you happen to know whether a big credit balance can be refunded?Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I don't know, I could not understand why someone would wish to have a large credit balance and then want a refund, anything above occasional use and some kind of sim only or contract deal will always be better, my GF/ex GF informs she is crediting her phone with £30 a month, silly suasage does not realise she would be better off with a sim only deal, well she does as of yesterday.0
