If we had a shortage of barristers ,well yes legislation would need to be enacted.
One option would be incentives for foreign dentists, and prohibitive legislation for those who do not take on NHS patients.
What a truly "Nanny State" situation that would be. Communism / State control has more or less died out in most countries.
Yeah lets encourage more of those Polish dentists here! Oh! Wait a minute what if the Polish government then enacts "prohibitive legislation" preventing them working here............after all they paid for them to be trained!
Come on wake up....until the government here introduces an NHS system in which dentists WANT to work then it won't happen........it's called a free market0 -
Incidentally, the link to the petition is HEREHow to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
So you owe your climb to wealth to the state ,and a democratic system that allowed you access to a self progressive enviroment.
I believe that dentistry has given you rich rewards, and the people enabled you,how can you justify refusing to treat those who helped you, think about it.
I am sure that you could have had a wonderful life within the NHS,not quite as rich but fulfilled.I know which I would chose. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
It's no good Ken.
You're preaching to the unconvertible...0 -
We are in the EU ,movement of labour is a right ,but should also be encouraged,if more NHS dentists became available ,the majority of patients would abandon the private sector and prevent private dentistry from flourishing. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0

No, it's called 'producer-dictated pricing', the precise antithesis of a free market.0 -

I believe that medical professional have a moral obligation, and I would question the intentions of some, who decide not to progress the initial reason that brought them to dentistry ,was it dentistry or monetary. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

One of the main problems if you cared to read the news stories is there IS NO MORE FUNDING even IF there were more dentists willing to work in the NHS.
If all private dentists suddenly decided to convert back to the NHS tomorrow the government would s**t themselves as the lack of funding would be a MAJOR political hot potato0
