  • If my Desire did break, I would personally go for the Samsung Galaxy S2 for its sleek design.
  • Thanks everyone for your thoughts and advice.

Why are we discussing the Desire on this thread anyway? It is not relevant to the OP's original question as he is not looking to purchase another 2 year old device (don't get me wrong, I am not slating the Desire as it is the device I use daily, also on a custom 2.3.7 ROM - Oxygen)

Comparing Sense3 running on your Desire against a new dual core device is completely useless.

I currently have a Desire which I mentioned in my first post.

I have decided to stick with my original choice of the Samsung.

I appreciate some of you probably think that I am mad to spend £400 on a new phone, when I have a perfectly good one in the Desire. But I just feel that the time is right to treat myself to a new phone having had the Desire for 18 months. It is going to a new owner however, as my hubby is getting it to replace the cheap Samsung Europa I bought him last year.

    Thanks again.

  • :jFinally finally, my spanking new Galaxy S2 will be arriving tomorrow.

Can those of you wonderful contributors, who already have the SG2 please recommend me some accessories? I'm thinking of car holder, desk dock, case and anything else that you can think of.

Before you slag (can I use this word?) me off for being lazy and not looking myself, I have looked and looked and there are so many to choose from, that I desparately need help...

Thank you thank, I'm so excited, its like Christmas eve...:j

A question for the techies out there. I had finally decided on the Samsung, now the Razr had been thrown into the mix. Ignoring the fact that there is a £100 difference, is the Razr much better than the S2?

If Motorola's past is anything to go by so far, the new RAZR will most likely have a locked bootloader which will make it almost impossible to install custom ROMs on (unless someone cracks it). This might change as Google have bought out Motorola but nothing's been officially announced abouy upcoming policy on bootloaders. This of course isn't important at all if you are a casual user but you will be at the mercy of whenever Motorola decides to release updates - if they do at all.

By comparison, the Galaxy S2 is has an unlocked bootloader and there's quite a lot of active development. The HTC Sensation is also unlocked after yielding to pressure from buyers as initially HTC decided to lock it.

    Enjoy :)

I'm not really one for accessories so can't help much. I do have an easecase from ebay (about £30, custom made with quite a lot of options to choose from - colours, texture, closure system etc) for when I need to chuck it in a handbag, though most often it just goes naked in a separate pocket in my bag :D Had an easecase for my HD2, I can vouch for the stuff being well made and sturdy, takes a while for it to arrive from Hong Kong.

I have really cheap desk holders (if I can call them that) which are great for landscape viewing in the form of folding, adjustable black plastic plate stands from ebay (£1.60 for 2) here
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail
