House of Fraser return?

Hello everybody,
i know it's probably a long shot but here goes...a few months ago (January) i bought a dress from House of Fraser for my brother's wedding. For various reasons i recently decided to return the dress, which has been unworn and stored in my wardrobe as it arrived on the day all tags still attached and i have still got the receipt.I contacted HoF but they said since it's outside their 28 day return policy i can't return or exchange.
I suppose they are right but does anybody out there think differently? Is there a chance i might be able to do something?

Also to add op, their 28 days policy is actually out of goodwill - legally they don't have to accept returns instore if you change your mind, and only have to give you 7 days upon receipt of goods for internet transactions.
If you have any female friends though -- maybe a nice gift0 -

Please make sure you add 'depending on signage posted around the store when bought' in future.
If signage says different, then those are the terms accepted by both parties.
I do doubt though that House of Fraser state anything about refunds or exchanges for no reason, in their conditions, beyond 28 days. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Yes they do.. in fact Martin stated such a thing not so long ago that if signage states something can be returned within a certain amount of time, then that's the t&c's accepted by all. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You could try and sell it back to them at a fraction of the price you bought it, hey, you never know unless you try.0

Yes thats right... still doesn't change the fact the 28 days policy is something offered as goodwill and not something they're legally obligued to offer.0 -

Was this a telephone or e-mail exchange?
If so, the person who told you this would just be quoting HOF policy.
You might find that if you pop into a store and have a word with the manages and explain that you fully understand that you are way over their 28 day period but would they consider allowing an exchange (especially if you are getting something more expensive and paying the difference) that they may be more accommodating.
The worst that could happen is that they refuse.0
