Tesco Express

Options
Does anyone hate Tesco Express?

..I do for the following reasons;

1. Products are generally more expensive than In Tesco
2. The staff think they are big headed at my local tesco express - meaning they think they are everything, high up and deserve the most respect!
3. Empty Shelfs - Often on sweets and chocolates.
4. Product Range - Often very limitedrange
5. Most of what they sell Is Junk food!

There Is this one women at my local express who holds every note I give her against the light - thinking every note I hand her Is fake!

Today I went to purchase a lotto ticket and the man asked for ID! - despite me being 18 and a half - He claimed I didn't look 16!

A while back I handed my clubcard to the women at the till and was told she could not Issue points on It as ' I didn't look 18' - and I would need ID to use It, then this girl who works there whos under 18 told her she had a clubcard and she used It!

Bring Back One Stop!! - They had a much greater range of products.

The reason why their more expensive is because they will have to pay much higher rent. The large supermarket retail model finds the cheapest place possible to go, often on a towns edge. Central locations cost much more.

Well, don't shop there then! They cost more because they're convenient. If you'd rather get in the car and drag miles out for your sweets and chocolate to save a few pence, do it. Don't get why you're complaining that the sweets and chocolates shelves are empty, and then complaining that they only sell junk food, though

If you dont look old enough then carry ID.
I think everyone should carry ID anyway. When its your job on the line, you need to be careful about who you serve!
Most stores have the Think 21 policy in place, where as if the staff dont think you look 21 then they should ask you for ID.

Noooooooo! Not the sweets and chocolates! What is the world coming to!?
    4. Product Range - Often very limitedrange
I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that they're smaller stores?

How do you define junk food? I had some delightful Gressingham duck fillets in a lovely orange sauce last night, and that had about 600 calories in. A Big Mac has less than 500...

That's her job! She's meant to check the notes...

I actually 100% agree with the OP. We only go to ours when we are desperate!
Also holding notes up to the light is down right stupid who in the world do they think they are? Never ever had that done to me so does that mean EVERYONE I give money to isn't doing their job right?:D
The stock on the shelves are also very low and you do not have much of choice either ....... good for the odd thing but not as a weekly shop:mad:

At a rough guess, cashiers who have been trained to keep an eye out for counterfeit notes. It may be that Tesco Express have a problem with people passing fake notes to them so the cashiers are expected to be extra vigilant.

the're also more expensive because they pay their staff less than normal stores and they get a bonus if the store does well from the profits. they are generally 5-10% more expensive than normal stores.
i have 2 near me and a huge superstore and i like them when i only need a pint of milk or loaf of bread and don't want to be tempted by other stuff coz the're expensive - v money saving!!
  • My parents consider Tesco Express as a supermarket now! - Everything 'has' to be from Tesco Express beause It Is only 3 minutes away down the road.

I hate the place - especially when I know I can much of the stuff cheaper In the supermarket.
