I thought there had to be a catch, as the flat is in one of the highest priced areas of Bristol. In fact, I joked to my friend that the mystery man was a siiting tenant - turns out there is one.pinkladyof66 wrote: »but £275 for a studio flat in that area he aint never gonna move as that is so cheap
Exactly.
There can't be many of these sitting tenants left alive. Any buyer can only hope that the tenant leaves of his own accord/goes into a long term care home/dies very soon and then set about the flat with a view to making a profit. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Wow , I live & work very close to that flat - sold as the entire basement it might get 300k in good condition.
I wonder if the 'renovations' are an attempt to get rid of the sitting tenant by making life a little more hellish ?0 -
Do you get the bonus man thrown in with the price? (pic 10)

My word. I pay more than that for a room in a shared house in BristolSaving for a Deposit of a Deposit £5,000/£10,000
'Life stuff' that needs paying for before I can start saving again £750/31000 -

The tenant may well be of such limited mobility that this arrangement may be perfectly acceptable. After all, they must be very elderly, if not pushing 90.
They are tough to get rid of though. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
What is it with bars being built in houses.
Some houses look like you've got the Queen Vic in the corner.
Will now find some to prove my point!0 -

I thought that was rather cheap, even for a basement flat - until I saw the photos.
Well, it had to happen eventually - a property I know! It's a student let, split into flats. I lived on the second floor about 20 years ago, with a very strange arrangement where I had to go out of the flat, across the landing and back in again to get to the kitchen or bathroom lol! But the rent was cheap. As far as I remember, the landlord lived on the ground floor.
I'd imagine that the "improvements" might be a ploy to increase the rent (and £295pcm is ridiculously cheap) or to convince a potential buyer that the back two rooms could also become a studio as it has independent access (put a bathroom in the smaller room). Might also be to dissuade any children of the sitting tenant from moving in with them for a couple of years in order to gain succession rights to the tenancy!
Sounds like a can of worms, but tbh, at that price it could be a good long-term punt if the sitting tenant had already "used up" any succession rights and was reasonably old. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
