I remember once seeing a property featured in one of the interiors magazines - it was a lovely period house in a not-so-nice area. The owners had spent a small fortune redesigning the interior space and it was crammed full of antiques and high-end fixtures, but from the outside it looked like a complete wreck........peeling paint, tatty finishes. Their reason being they didn't want their house to stand out and to attract the attention of burglars - although once featured in the mag for all to see, all hope of that would surely have gone out the windowMortgage-free for fourteen years!
