I've seen worse garage conversions tbh. There's lots of them in the west country because housing is sooooo expensive compared to wages

You're probably right. Probably an old bloke who never used his front room seeing the walls in there aren't too bad.

Why spend so much time and effort on the inside and not even give the front a lick of paint - have they never heard of kerb appeal??

I remember once seeing a property featured in one of the interiors magazines - it was a lovely period house in a not-so-nice area. The owners had spent a small fortune redesigning the interior space and it was crammed full of antiques and high-end fixtures, but from the outside it looked like a complete wreck........peeling paint, tatty finishes. Their reason being they didn't want their house to stand out and to attract the attention of burglars - although once featured in the mag for all to see, all hope of that would surely have gone out the window
