this flat I'm including because the thing they aren't telling you as to why it's up for immediate purchase is because the building is currently missing all the windows you can see on the left hand side of the main picture - council came and took them away the day before the price was dropped - hassle free investment I don't think

If this isn't depressing then I don't know what is...

the reason I included this is because the price dropped significantly the day after the council removed half of the side of the building.
The picture of the bay window, that window is no longer on the building.
The price dropped significantly the day after the side of the building was removed. If folk buy without viewing thinking they're getting a 'hassle free investment', they'd be in for a very nasty surprise when discovering the place is not wind/water tight anymore.
In fact, I'll take a picture of the outside later on and post it for you to see the difference0 -

Nothing wrong with cedar cladding. The Scandinavians do it rather well, and frequently.
Pity they didn't employ some Scandinavian architects though....:(0 -

This sort of cladding always fades down to a silvery finish, which as you say is a bit depressing when a whole house is done like that. If you look at streetview the whole area is not so bad, as quite a few of the houses have patches of rendering which gives quite a good combined effect between the render and the cladding. The houses may work very well to live in, but I'd be wary of buying an ex-local authority building at that price. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

It's a peculiar sort of very dull, unimaginative architect who seems to get attracted to work for LAs. They pick on an idea, eg cladding, but then they can't execute it properly. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I seem to recall seeing somehing similar in good old Jaywick, Essex, built for the Guinness Trust housing association, IIRC. They reminded me of a rundown Wild West town without the associated charm and character.......blooming awful, but apparently the development won an award for designMortgage-free for fourteen years!

I understand that, what I don't understand is why the windows got removed.0 -
