Apart from the asking prices, it doesn't seem that bad to me. Having living space over a row of garages seems like a good use of space. One of the garages closest to the door is for the upstairs flat. Only problems would come if one of the garage owners kept revving their car engines and the exhaust fumes rising into the flat.
Quite a few 1960s/70s council flats around Norwich are built like this - once the council realised how popular car ownership was.
I live in a coach house similar to the one pictured and have the exact issue described here! Our car lover neighbour likes to sit in his garage revving his engine whilst gassing us half to death. Apart from that I love it, I pay rent lower than all my neighbours and get a garage and garden included, and the apartment is a decent size too.0 -

I did look at a similar style flat to rent a couple of years ago. There were 3 garages below it, one of them with the flat of course. Very nice but decided against it on account of the silly shower fitting, meaning that you couldn't showe standing up but sitting down in the bath - wierd.Generation Rent0 -
