I'd guess at one of the original doors & surround preserved from the bank that the house was converted from? Ornamental only, perhaps a narrow cupboard, as there appears to be no door on the other side of the wall in the hall. There's also a vault that has been converted to a wine store, not pictured but shown on the plan.
