I remember when West Hampstead was a place to be avoided! Mind you, the state of the place the previous owner probably lived there then.

I don't know how far back you two go, but I lived in Kilburn during the 60s and there was no bovver in those days, unless the Highbury skinheads were visiting. The area had a high Irish population, but the streets around me were fairly multi-cultural by then. Everyone rubbed-along pretty well.

Anyway, housemates and I went over to West Hampstead almost weekly to visit the Railway Hotel, the home of Klooks Kleek. The blurb for this paperback explains what that was:
